Moose examined the blunt before raising it to his mouth again. He toked once more and held it out for Mozzi to finish.
“I guess she’s back. Chief of Detectives. She was on Inari’s case when I went to pick her up,” Moose revealed.
“Pssh. Small fucking world.” Mozzi grabbed what was left of the blunt and pinched it between his fingers.
“Who the fuck you telling? I ain’t thought about her ass in a long time. The crazy part is, she also knows Inari.”
“How?”
“I don’t know.” Moose shrugged with both hands stuffed in the pockets of his jeans. “She didn’t say, but I get the feeling it’ssome real live fuck you and your whole family shit. I didn’t want to press her, but she damn sure had no problem asking about me and Tulla. The way that bitch was acting, she made it obvious what it was. Or what it used to be.”
“So, what you gon’ do about that?”
“Keep my fucking distance. This shit too hot. I can’t risk neither one of them getting wind of my involvement in this shit. Tulla ain’t shit, and all she cares about is making a name for herself. Imagine if she gets the opportunity to jam me up. You think she not taking that shit?”
“No doubt,” Mozzi agreed.
“And I’m fucking with Inari. She got a lot more sense than these other bitches out here.”
“Just be careful,” Mozzi warned. “Inari is a grown ass woman. She don’t play games or none of that. She been the breadwinner and responsible one damn near all her life from what I can tell. Well, except for when I saw her at the house earlier.”
Frowning, Moose pushed himself off his car. “What you mean at the house? What was she doing there?”
“Getting throwed with Ayla. I told her to sleep it off. I think the whole robbery is fucking with her more than she wants to admit,” Mozzi divulged, giving Moose something to think about. “I’m going to check on this girl and make sure she don’t forget nothing. I need to grab some more weed too.”
“Bring me back something to drink, fool. I’m thirsty as fuck.” Moose stuck his hand under his shirt and stroked his abs.
Eventually, Mozzi and Coast strolled out together, bantering about something as usual. He carried a duffel bag of her things and a bottled water for his brother. Moose joined them in the garage, examining Coast’s new whip. He’d seen Mozzi handle females any kind of way, so to witness the effort he was putting in with Coast was crazy. She got the princess treatment withouteven asking for it. He loved that for his brother because there was a time he didn’t think Mozzi was even capable of those kinds of feelings.
Jane was right all those years ago when she told them all that one day a girl would come along to put all the other girls to shame. Moose thought he had it once, but Sisi left town when her mother’s job uprooted them. She was the good girl from a decent, loving family. Although he loved her, and she was one of his best friends, Moose always knew she was too good for him. Sisi didn’t know nothing about trauma or having to survive because she was raised off love. It’d been years since he’d seen, spoken to, or even thought about her.
Trini followed her and everybody else on social media though, so she was quick to tell anyone’s business, especially if she knew it was someone he used to fuck with. Moose knew through her that Sisi was living her life the way she always said she would. It was always a picture Moose couldn’t quite see himself in. Getting involved with Tulla was a knee jerk reaction to breaking things off with Sisi. He was young, but he was never a fool for her. He took the situation for what it was, a learning experience since he’d never fucked with an older bitch before.
“You know the way to the house, right?” Mozzi checked with Coast, tossing her bag in the back seat.
“Yes. I’m going to grab my check, and I guess let them know I won’t be coming back to work.”
“Aight, bet. All the paperwork and insurance are in the glove box. I’ll hit you later and check in.”
With a hand resting on her waist, he leaned in and pecked her soft mouth. It felt good, so he paused and did it again. Wheels on the gravel road drew their attention past Mozzi’s car where Brim pushed his Black Tahoe.
“Can you do me a favor?” Coast asked, stroking his cheek and looking into his warm eyes.
“I bought you a car and all this other shit, Trouble… the fuck else you want?” Mozzi argued, waving his hand at her new whip.
“I want you to be careful. Ass.” She snatched away from him, but he reached for her arm and pulled her back in.
“C’mere. You my girl, right?”
“You make sure you let L, R, and G know that I’m your girl. I don’t play that sharing shit. So, they better find something safe to do.” Coast’s dainty hand rested on the back of his neck.
“I’mma bend that ass over and fuck the shit out you, you keep talking like that.” Mozzi crushed his lips against hers.
“Promises, promises.”
“Yo, this shit fire right here, though.” Moose circled her ride.
“Take the rest of this shit out. She ain’t about to be riding around with all this.”
