“Hell, no. It’s like they all forget how to jump.”
“Long as no one got hurt.” They all hated to see one of the guys go down hard or break something.
“Nah. I don’t like to have that. What about you? You have a decent morning?”
“I did. Met a new breeder who has a few fillies I might look at.”
“Yeah? Y’all could use a couple girls that throw runners.”
“We could.” They had a great bloodline for cutting horses and working stock, but they could use some speed. His brothers would be shocked at what Landon knew about their horses.
Maybe he should take Landon back to the ranch for a few days. He wasn’t sure what Bri and Chrissie would think about that. They wouldn’t be ugly, not if he had anything to say on it, but they might be…reserved. Landon was awful young. Very Cajun. Not real educated.
“You got smoke comin’ out your ears, cher.”
“I know. I’m thinking hard.” He wasn’t ashamed of Landon. Or his family. He had no idea how they’d mix, though, and that made him ponder hard.
“That ain’t good for you.” Landon kissed him again.
“I know. Causes burnout.”
“Uh-huh. You think you and me could go riding some day?”
“Hell, yes. I was thinking you could go with me. Home.” He held his breath, waiting.
“Yeah? I can do that.” Just easy as pie, not a bit of worry. Just yes.
“Well, then, you let me know when you can go.” Landon had a sister who needed him at home at least part of the time, and Adam wanted to be fair.
“I’ll call Sister, see what she’s needing, and we’ll figure it.”
“Good deal.” He closed his eyes, ready to have a little rest. Orgasms were hard work.
Landon’s cheek rested on his chest, his Cajun settling in. It felt perfect, just relaxing together.
He leaned his chin on Landon’s hair, the scent of Ivory soap and whatever that weird salve his lover swore on familiar as breathing. So weird, how quick he’d gotten used to this, to Landon. A little scary, too, but he thought he could cope with this. He’d have to, if he wanted to keep his Cajun in his life, and Adam knew for a fact that he did.
Weird.
He needed to talk to his brothers. Talk about this. Let them know what was going on. Adam shivered. That meant this was serious.
“Shh. I got you, cher. I got you.” Landon wasn’t even really awake.
“I know, honey. I know.” That was the one thing that made sense. The rest was just his shit, and he had to get it figured out.
