“I reckon I’ll get better at it.” He was a quick learner.
“You think so? We might have to try again in a bit.” Adam patted his back, a little clumsy, but it felt nice.
“We might.” Maybe tomorrow. He bet his Momma’s teeth that he’d be damned sore in the morning.
“Don’t worry, honey. There are a ton of things we can try.”
Well, hell, that sounded damn promising. “Ooo-eee!” Sometimes you just had to let it out.
Adam laughed, slapping his ass. “And yeehaw.”
“Hell, yeah.” He couldn’t help grinning, feeling as lazy as a Sunday morning sinner.
“Stay with me awhile, huh? It’s pretty comfy in here.” Adam hung on, hands moving on his skin idly.
“I’m all over that. You smell like Heaven, if they fuck there.”
“If they don’t, I don’t want to go.” Adam reached over to the cooler and grabbed a couple of beers. That was nice, to just loll in bed and drink.
“You got amazing horses, huh? So good and wanting to be polite for you.”
“You think Sugarland is polite?” Adam laughed out loud. “She’s tried to eat everyone but Chrissy.”
“She’s amazing. I work with field horses at home for folks, they’re mean.” He knew from toothy bitches.
“Well, she sure liked you. Chris was grateful.”
“I know that it’s hard, having a sibling down.” He knew when his twin hurt, when she needed him.
“It is.” Adam’s mouth tightened. “He was out like a light for a minute, and I think it froze me a little.”
“When Sister fell off the barn, I couldn’t stand up for three days.”
“She fell off the barn?” Adam stared, eyebrows drawn down. “How old is your sister?”
“Three minutes younger than me.” He grinned, thinking of the money he’d be able to send her. He’d made himself enough for the tax bill today.
“You’re a twin?” That seemed to make Adam look at him differently, but he didn’t hold it against the man. It meant something, if you knew what that was like, to have shared the womb with someone. Landon understood.
“Yep. I know we ain’t identical, but we got the same heart, her and me.”
“Yeah. That explains a lot, actually.”
Landon didn’t know what that meant, but it didn’t seem like something he ought to ask, either. He settled, stretching out. “Y’all are here in Texas, huh? West?”
“Floydada.” Adam tickled his belly a bit, rough fingers catching on his short hairs.
“Wh… Way out there.” Landon snorted, one leg drawing up. “Don’t pull ’em out! I’ll look like a Brazilian!”
“Only Joa waxes that hard.”
“Yeah, I can’t imagine. That’s gotta sting like fire ants.”
“More like someone poured Sterno on your skin.” Adam’s cheeks went red. Oh-ho! Someone had tried waxing at some point.
“Oh, douce, you got yourself some fuzzy, now.” He petted that flat belly.
“I do. I will never go there again.”
