Then the fucker put it on backward.
Backward.
Oh, sweet baby Jesus in a manger.
“Let’s go get you fed. Yeah?”
And at the sight of him with that backward baseball cap, all I could do was nod.
So that’s what I did.
‘I wouldn’t change my life for the world at the moment.’
– Grey’s Secret Thoughts.
Chapter 11
Grey
It was fucking official.
I had seen the way she had stared at the ballcap.
The way her nostrils had flared, and her eyes widened just a little bit.
Yeah, I was never not going without a backward ballcap ever again.
I winked down at her, reached around her, and opened the door.
She turned without a word and started walking.
I closed the door, locked it, and the moment I reached her, I put my hand on the small of her back.
Then she did one of the cutest fucking things I’ve ever witnessed.
The moment my hand landed on her lower back, I heard her take in a deep breath.
Was it me? Or did she just lean back slightly into my hand?
Would she react if I puffed my chest out?
Would she further react if I stepped in front of her the moment we reached the bottom of the stairs so none of my brothers could get a look at her?
Cause if they stared too long... well... they’d lose an eye.
And when Wolf and Jury did that very thing, fuckers. I narrowed my eyes, and with my free hand, I reached around to the small of my back where my 9mm was tucked into the waistband of my jeans.
Wolf’s eyes widened slightly, not missing my warning.
Jury lifted his chin in acknowledgement.
“Umm, Grey? What was that?” she asked.
I looked down at her and winked, “That was me letting them know that if they stared too long, they would regret it.”
Her cheeks turned slightly pink.
I grinned.
