I smiled, “I miss you.”
He winked, “Miss you too.”
“Have you seen her?” he asked.
I didn’t need to ask who he was referring to.
I shook my head. “The brothers have been looking for her, but nothing yet.”
See, when Grey was arrested, he told them to get Kacie out of his sight.
What they didn’t know was that they thought they had found the way she used to escape the cellar when they had her in there trying to detox her years ago.
She was in there, and then half an hour later, she was gone.
Day 150
“Hey, Kacie, it’s me, Kimber. Grey wants to see you.” I said that, then I hung up.
Always her freaking voicemail.
Seventeen messages.
Day 175
“Any update?” he asked.
I sighed, “No.”
He growled, “Well, try harder.”
I lifted a brow, “Excuse me.”
“She would have called back by now,” he said.
I shook my head, “No. Grey. She wouldn’t have. And that’s because she doesn’t need anything from you.”
Day 183
I slammed the paper against the glass so he could read it.
‘Your bitch made me write this so you would know it was me asking. Tell her to give me a couple hundred dollars. Yeah?’
Once I was sure he had read it, I lowered the paper and said one word, “No.”
Then I walked away.
Day 193
“You have a collect call from Pierre Parish County Jail. Will you accept the charges?” A robotic voice said.
“No.”
Day 197
“You have a collect call from Pierre Parish County Jail. Will you accept the charges?”
“No.”
