“I can’t wait to make love to you before the fire,” I said, meaning every word of it. She gasped as I entered her, her arms and legs locking me in place.

I never wanted to let her go.

Chapter 9

I woke up to the dying embers of the fire but completely wrapped up in his arms, which was the perfect ending to this day.

Or night, as it was now dark outside.

Rather nearing dark. The sky was that darker shade of blue before it turned black.

“You’re awake,” he mumbled and I turned to face him. His eyes were still closed but his lips were lifted in a smirk.

“Yes. My stomach growled, said it was time to eat. After all, you worked me out quite nicely.”

“Likewise.” He stretched and I took the moment to gaze at him, enjoying this view just as well. I ran my hand over his chest, feeling the pricks of his chest hair.

Personally, I never really had a preference if men had chest hair or not, but seeing my mountain man like this, it was perfect. Because it showed me that he was all man and that’s all I wanted.

“What are you thinking about?”

I looked him over once more before shooting my eyes to his. Wrapping an arm around his waist, I shifted closer to him, throwing my leg over his hip.

“I want to make it official. I want to call you husband.”

“You want to sign the papers?”

“Yes.”

“Was it because I was that good in bed?” he teased. I kicked his ass with the heel of my foot, making him bark out a laugh.

“That’s part of it. I don’t want anyone to take what’s mine anymore. But I’m also ready. It’s what we were supposed to do anyway and I feel it’s right. Don’t you?”

He wrapped me back up in his arms and kissed my forehead, making me feel even more cherished.

“I agree, it’s right. You know, there’s no backing out of this, right?”

“I know. Wouldn’t want to anyway. But,” I said, finally sitting up. “I need to change. I might have bought something special for this when we both signed it.”

“Don’t keep me waiting, woman.”

I giggled as I jumped up and went to the room, slipping on the white dress I had gotten. Which, given what we just did, seemed pointless but I wasn’t one with traditions, obviously, as I didn’t find a husband the right way.

I came out of the room, stopping at the edge of the hallway as I saw him buttoning up his black shirt. And holy hotness, did I just about die.

He turned around, his eyes scanning me from the top of my head downward to the heels I was wearing.

“You look gorgeous.”

I blushed under the compliments and the gaze.

“You look beyond sexy,” I finally said, walking over to him. I ran my hands over his shoulders then down his arms to capture his hands. “Are you nervous?”

“Yeah, a little. Is that crazy?”

“Nope. Because I am too. I want it, but it’s still a little scary. You’re stuck with me for life,” I answered.

“And believe me when I say I’m fine with that.”
