‘We need to filter our search,’ said Jasmine, then tapped ‘mature bride wedding dresses’ into the bar. Immediately a plethora of images appeared before them. Bunty’s eyes widened.

‘That’s it.’ She pointed her finger.

‘Are you sure? There’s plenty more to look at,’ replied Jasmine.

‘No, I’m sure. That’s the one.’

Jasmine clicked on the picture of a cream dress with delicate layers of tulle that gathered into ruffles. It was scattered with silver sequins.

‘“With textured ruffles to create beautiful movement, this truly unique wedding dress will look sophisticated for years to come”,’ she quoted. ‘I must admit, it does have an ageless quality about it.’ Jasmine was closely examining the image.

‘Exactly. It reminds me of my mother’s dress,’ replied Bunty.

‘Oh, the one Emma wore at the house opening?’ Jasmine remembered Emma sat at the grand piano in the hall, wearing a Charleston flapper dress.

‘Yes.’ Bunty gave a wistful smile at the memory.

‘Well, that was easy,’ remarked Jasmine, saving the page.

‘Should we look for you now?’ asked Bunty with a cheeky wink. As always, her gut feeling was bang on the money.

‘Me?’ Jasmine faked surprise but wasn’t fooling anyone.

‘Yes, you. Don’t tell me you weren’t considering it.’ Bunty’s eyes twinkled with mischief.

Jasmine gave in with laughter.

‘OK I admit it. I may have been tentatively looking, but perhaps we ought to just concentrate on you for now.’

‘Why?’ Bunty asked directly, staring at her.

‘Because… it’syourspecial time, not mine,’ replied Jasmine.

‘No other particular reason?’ pressed Bunty.

Honestly, thought Jasmine, the woman was way too intuitive for her own good. What was she supposed to say? ‘No point in looking at wedding dresses for me just yet, Bunty, because I’ll be the size of a house come summer’? She eyed the older lady dubiously. Had she guessed too? Jasmine was sure her mum had sussed out she was pregnant. Maybe Bunty had done the same?

‘No other reason,’ said Jasmine with an innocent smile.

‘I see,’ Bunty murmured dryly, sounding anything but convinced.
