I'd never had a sibling, but my relationship with Wren felt brotherly. We bickered, he never let me get away with anything, we ribbed each other constantly, and I loved him and Lev likefamily. In fact, I loved everyone who worked in Lanton House, and although I’d rather die than admit it, moving here and working for Thomas had been the best decision I’d ever made. I didn’t just find Hana here; I found a family. One who loved me unconditionally, even when they were being paranoid and invading my personal space.
I shut down my screen, closed my laptop, and threw my belongings into my bag.
“Great idea. You call me if you get any news, though, yeah?”
Wren let out a long sigh, knowing I was talking about finding Jarrid. He’d texted a few days after Amber’s death, telling Thomas he quit—effective immediately—and he didn’t want to be found. Of course, Thomas ignored him and had us searching the world for him, but so far, we’d found nothing, and the longer he was gone, the more worried we were all getting.
Jarrid loved Amber, and so shooting her to save my life must have fucked him up, and none of us wanted him to go through that guilt and grief alone. At this point, if we could find him, there’d be no doubt in my mind that Thomas would happily abduct him to bring him back here, where we could help him process what happened.
My fingers found the scar on my neck as guilt sliced through me like another bullet. He’d done that to save me, and I’d still not had the chance to say thank you.
Wren must have noticed where I was touching—apparently, my team told me it was a familiar move when I thought about my friend and what he’d done for me. “Go,” he mouthed, and I picked up my bag, offering him a thankful nod.
“See you tomorrow.”
I stoodin the doorway of my house… our house… staring at my wife. I still couldn’t believe she was mine, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.
We’d got married a week after I got out of hospital. Neither of us wanted to wait another minute to start our lives together. I knew what people around town thought—that Hana was pregnant, that it was too quick, that I was obsessed with her—but it was more than that. I wanted the world to know she was mine, just like I’d known since I first laid eyes on her.
She was chatting away, her phone on the kitchen island on speakerphone and a folder of papers spread across the counter, the familiar tone of Sean’s voice echoing around the room.
Hana leaned forwards, her head staring down. “I would go in from the top. You have the element of surprise, but you’re going to want to loop the feed and take out the cameras on the east side. That way, they can’t see you approach or leave. There are six guards who walk the perimeter every two hours and are in radio contact every thirty minutes. None of them looks like they’d put up much of a fight,” she explained.
I smiled. Hana didn’t like what she used to do for Preston, but fuck, she was good at it. As a way to say thank you to Sean and Thomas for everything they did for her, she took the job they offered her as their consultant for some of the more complicated work, where her expertise at breaking and entering and taking things that didn’t belong to her would be an asset.
She loved it—helping now instead of being on the wrong side of the law. Watching her in action always made me hard for her. Who was I kidding? I was always hard for her. If anything, marrying my obsession had just made my infatuationgrow to what others may class as pathological levels. Luckily, I surrounded myself with men who were equally as obsessed with their partners, so I was in good company.
“Okay, that all sounds doable. How long do you think it will take us to get in, do the job and get out, given the size of the building?” Sean asked.
Hana flicked her hair over her shoulder, exposing how open her gown was, the curve of her breast clear to see. I licked my lips, desperate to taste her skin.
I closed and secured the door with an ominous click, and her eyes locked with mine as I stalked towards her. She didn’t acknowledge my presence, but her fingers traced down the column of her throat as she answered Sean.
“I’d say you can be in and out in eighteen minutes. That means none of the guards will check in on each other, and they’ll be none the wiser that anything is wrong. Easy.”
Sean chuckled. “Easy for you, maybe. My old bones can’t be doing this shit.”
Hana smiled, and a surge of jealousy rose inside me like a tidal wave. I knew it was unwarranted, but the level of crazy I felt for this woman didn’t listen to logic.
There was a beat of silence before Sean said, “Hi, Roman. I’d best let you both get towork.” The sarcasm in his tone was clear, and I had no clue how he knew I was here. Actually, yes, I did. These men knew everything.
And with that, the call ended.
I didn’t hesitate, striding around the counter, my already hard cock pressing against the seam of my jeans like it was trying to bust free.
I unfastened my belt as I moved and lowered my fly, so that by the time I stepped up behind Hana, my cock was freed from my boxer briefs and in my hand, precum already leaking from my slit.
She didn’t move, didn’t speak, fuck, she didn’t even glance in my direction, and need pulsed through me like an angry drum, demanding I pay attention.
With my free hand, I pushed her forwards, so her chest was pressed against the counter. She grabbed the edge, her knuckles turning white as she tightened her grip.
I nudged her feet wider, stepping into the gap between her now spread thighs. I flicked her robe up, exposing her naked arse and her arousal slick skin—glad that she’d adhered to the no underwear rule I’d brought in from the first day she moved in—letting out a feral growl, knowing she was wet and ready for me.
I sank into her entrance without a word, and Hana cried out my name like I was the answer to all her prayers.
“Fucking hell,” I hissed through clenched teeth. “You’re soaking and so fucking tight.”
I pulled almost all the way out, slamming back into her hard, her body bucking against the marble counter. “Have you been thinking about this since you got home? Me taking what’s mine?”
