And the person holding her is a younger-looking Garrett.

I pick up the photo and slam it on the desk in front of Nick. “Who is this?” I demand.

The man reaches for the picture bringing it closer to his eyes. “Oh, that would be Officer Garrett. Wait.” He turns his head to me as bile starts to form up my esophagus. “Did you say this desk belonged to a Montgomery? As in Garrett Montgomery?”

All I can do is nod while my mind tries to catch on to what’s happening.

“Wow. What are the chances? You know he’s Adam’s step-brother?”

All of a sudden, the pieces begin to click.

Garrett squeamish after the first victim.

Garrett looking at the article Ian saw.

Adam’s brother.

It’s not Adam that has her.

No. It’s Garrett.

But why?

I’m about to fucking find out.

Nick must come to the same realization, because he jumps from the desk and mutters, “It’s not Adam,” as his wide eyes fly to mine.

Ipage Garrett.

If this fucker has her, I’ll end him.

Nick told me to keep it cool, but the second Garrett walks into my office, all thoughts of being nice leave.

“Sit,” I command.

He walks over to the chair in front of my desk as if nothing is fucking wrong. I slam the photo down, but his face remains neutral.

“Where is she?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He swipes the photo from my desk and puts it in his pocket, and I slam my hands down, getting right in his face, but he doesn’t so much as flinch.

“Don’t fucking play with me, Montgomery.”

His chin lifts in defiance, and it takes all my willpower not to fucking knock him out right here.

“Garrett, you need to tell us where she is. You are not your brother.”

Nick enters the office, and finally, Garrett’s face cracks.

“Don’t you dare compare me to Adam! He wanted to hurt her, I only want to save her!”

“Where is she, son?”

“I can’t tell you that.”

I’ve fucking had it. Time is of the essence here.

“WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?!” I scream, getting in his face.
