“Good boy.”
I continued to play with his hair until he shivered from the chill in the room.
“Let’s get dressed. It’s almost closing time.”
“M’kay,” he mumbled, sounding sleepy as he stood up again and started to get dressed, hiding the plug until I could play with it, and him, once we got home.
“Our frames arrived today. We can start putting them up tomorrow.”
Benny had come up with the idea of putting signed pictures on one of the gym walls of all the fighters who trained here.
It was a good way to showcase just how special this gym was, and all the high-profile athletes and fighters who believed in him and his gym.
“We should put your picture up there too,” he told me.
I huffed. “I’m not a fighter.”
He raised a brow at me. “Strongest fighter I’ve ever met.”
I laughed. “Yeah? What would my fighting name be, then?”
“Hmmm,” he thought about it for a moment. “Harper ‘The Rebel’ Lorens.”
I nodded. “I like it. But I think we can do better.”
“Really?” He stepped in closer, eyes full of adoration as he captured my lips in a slow kiss. “What’s your idea, then?”
“Hmm… how about Harper… ‘The Renegade’… Forrester.”
He smiled, before the last name registered, and his breath caught. “You… want my last name?”
“I want your everything.”
“But you mean… like are you…”
“Proposing?”
He nodded.
Without looking, I opened the top drawer to the desk again.
His eyes remained on me until I tilted my head in encouragement for him to take a look.
The black velvet ring box was in the center of the drawer.
“Yes,” he answered quickly.
I chuckled. “Don’t you want to see the ring first? I don’t have the money I used to, you might not like it.”
“Baby, I wouldn’t care if that box was empty. Yes. Ring, no ring, doesn’t matter. I’ll marry you. I’ll marry the shit out of you.”
“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“Not possible.” My arms wrapped around his neck as I dragged him down into a deep, passionate kiss.
Maybe we had time for one more round before we packed up and went home.
