The two of them dozed. When my knot slipped out, I went into the bathroom. Yes, a bath would be perfect. I started the taps and added both bubble bath and a bath bomb, not entirely sure which I should use.

I made Kai a cup of tea and Steven and me some coffee and brought that to the bed table along with some waters. Drinking my water, I sat on the edge of the bed and checked my phone. Everything was fine. Good.

Kai’s eyes fluttered open.

“Hi. I have some tea and water for you.” I held up the water.

“Oh good.” Kai climbed over to me, drank the water, and cuddled against me. “Do I hear water?”

“I’m running you a bath.” I kissed her. “Are you hungry?”

Kai thought for a moment as they finished off the water and reached for the tea. “Do you think room service can bring us grilled cheese and tomato soup after our bath?”

“I’ll do that.” I went to check on the bath.

When I came back Kai was on their phone. They looked up. “Auntie is concerned over how long I’ve been away. I also missed class.”

“It is Monday.” I sat down, putting my arm around them. “Are you feeling better?”

“I didn’t mean to go into heat. I’m on suppressants.” Kai frowned. “At least it was a short heat.”

“It’s fine. We’re right here. And if at any time this happens and we’re not–just let us know and we’ll drop everything and come to you. Even if we’re mid-game. I promise.” I kissed the top of their head.

“Okay. Hopefully there won’t be more surprises.” Kai finished their tea, kissed me, and got up and went to the bathroom.

Steven slept on the bed, naked and peaceful.

Kai didn’t come back and I heard more water. I peeked in the bathroom, and I saw Kai in the shower, probably rinsing off before they got into the bath. Returning to the bedroom, I woke Steven up with a kiss.

“Do I smell coffee?” Steven yawned.

“It’s right here.” I handed it to him as I sat up. I heard the water turn off. “Kai’s in the bathtub. Want to join us?”

“That sounds good. So does some food.” Steven drank his coffee. “This is perfect. Is everything okay? What day is it?”

“Monday. Everything’s fine. I think we’re about done.” I finished my coffee. “I think Kai wants food after the bath.”

Steven nodded. “That sounds like a good idea. Hey, are you doing okay?”

“I’m in Hawai’i with the two people who mean the most to me. I’m great. Maybe we can go for a walk after we eat while they refresh the room?” It would be good for us to get outside.

“Sounds good to me.” Draining the coffee, he set the empty mug on the bed stand.

I checked my phone again and groaned. I hadn’t checked the group chat earlier–or read Rhett’s texts.

“What?” Steven’s forehead furrowed.

“Someone on campus got us confessing our love to Kai on video. It went viral. Carys saw it, showed it to Rhett, who then dropped it in the team group chat.” I rolled my eyes. Just what we needed.

“Awww, I mean, why not, right? Full circle from Kai’s breakup post to a happily ever after,” Steven replied.

“Very true.” Giving him another kiss. I stood and went into the bathroom. It was dark, candles lit, and Kai floated in the giant tub.

“Can I come in?” I asked.

“Please?” Kai looked up at me adoringly.

I got in the shower and rinsed off, because I was sweaty and gross. Then I climbed in behind them, holding them to me.
