Maybe he needed to be honest with her about how much he liked her. Perhaps sooner rather than later.

I checked her school schedule online. It looked like due to the semester being pushed graduation wasn’t until Mid-June, which meant there was an end of May long weekend a couple weeks before finals. While he told his story I looked into hotels and rentals in Hilo.

Kai laughed as Ashton’s story took a ridiculous turn. There was such a huge change between now and just a bit ago.

Huh. Were those two scent matches? I watched the two of them as he finished his story and told another one. This one wasn’t about Bigfoot, but the fairies that lived in the Oregon vortex. Whatever that was.

I didn’t know much about scent matches, but they did have an incredible connection–which I was here for. I was secure enough in my relationship with Ashton that I knew that him being scent matches with Kai didn’t lessen anything he had with me.

Not to mention, I loved Kai too. I think I really did. Not just like or lust. Not just that I could see us spending a life together.

I think I genuinely loved her, even though it had only been a week. As Ashton’s mom would say,If you know, you know.

After last night, I’d been thinking. There wasn’t an easy way to be together. But there was a hard way.

If Kai still wanted to be with us, maybe we could make the long-distance work. This summer Kai had all sorts of things planned, but maybe she could stay with us when she didn’t? It’s not like we couldn’t afford the plane fare. Next summer if she needed to stay in Hawai’i, we’d get a place and be with her.

The season and her school year, it would take a lot of work for us to make a long distance relationship, where everybody was happy and fulfilled and pursuing their careers and had their needs met.

We’d all be really busy. We’d just have to video chat a lot. It would be rough, especially on her and Ashton, if the past few days were any indicator.

I didn’t think it was impossible. Especially if Kai’s university had any special omega rules.

Of course, the big question was, did Kai love us the way we loved her?

And would she be willing to work for it too?

Chapter Thirty-One

Kai

Wednesday

Iwaved Leigh over as she approached with two iced coffees. Because I had a car, I was going to drive our lab group over to the ponds for field work today for our conservation class. There was a shuttle, but a car meant we could stay later if we needed it. Usually, Hayden drove.

“Thanks.” I took a sip. It was perfect.

“I’m so bummed that we’re missing watching the game because we have class. I want to see if the Scorpions win,” Hayden lamented as she joined us.

She’d been quite jealous that I got to go to a game and had a signed puck andshirt.

“Yeah, I’m a little sad too, but I’m sure we can catch the highlights,” I replied as we waited for the last two.

I hoped the guys were doing okay. I’d kept them up a little longer than I should have last night.

Seth stormed across the parking lot. “I hope you’re happy.”

Yay. I was wondering when he was going to hunt me down. Seth was an alpha, but he was the kind that justlookedlike an asshole.

Pika was at wrestling practice, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Auntie had someone lurking around. But even though Seth was an alpha, I could handle him. Uncle had given me bear spray and it hung from my backpack, right next to the penguin charm.

“If this means that Logan got kicked out, yes, we are very happy.” Leigh rolled her eyes.

“Go away. Don’t make me have to get a restraining order against you too,” I retorted.

“He’s worked hard all these years, and they’ve kicked him out weeks before graduation because of you.” His face contorted in anger.

“I did nothing. He’s the one who threatened me, stole from me, and filed a false police report.” Wow so they’d actually kicked him out? It was honestly a relief that he was gone. I’d been on edge all day wondering if he would try to defy the restraining order.
