“Don’t make that suggestion in front of Anastasia,” Jaxon suggested, half laughing.

The two women had caused the entire family heartache for weeks given their insistence they could handle danger on their own.

“My two soldiers failed three times.” The Don rubbed his jaw, obviously frustrated with her.

“What?” I threw out. “I thought they only lost her once.”

Alexander rose to his feet, leaning over the desk. “Three times in the last two weeks.”

“Whoa,” Jaxon huffed. “What is going on with her?”

“She doesn’t like being followed,” I answered.

“How did you find her last night?” Alexander asked, slyly grinning,

“When Jaxon called, I’d played a hunch. You forget that her birthday is in a few days. Halloween is her favorite holiday. She enjoys the atmosphere on Bourbon Street. She’s a witch. She’s into voodoo and spells.”

Both Montgomery and Sinclair glanced at each other, both amused at my expense.

“Go on,” Alexander encouraged.

“She’d put herself in the spookiest environment possible in a club far removed from Indulgence.” Indulgence, a full city block of a five-story building where the first floor, owned and operated by Emmeline, was filled with bistros and boutiques, an art gallery and chocolatier. The second floor was an award-winning restaurant followed by a club up above, then storage space and offices followed by the private club for members only.

Jaxon exhaled. “Are you talking about The Witch’s Brew?”

“I am.”

“She hates that place.”

“Not when there’s a special party going on.” I’d seen the dare in her eyes. If I told them she’d been involved in speed dating, she would kick my ass.

But now, I had something to hold over her pretty little head should she try to run away again.

“He’s good. He knows her cold. Are you going to reassign him?” Sinclair had damn well better be teasing.

“He’s too valuable an operative. And at this point, I’m worried that we’ll be seeing visitors. Especially when they learn two of the Prince family are in Miami.” Alexander glanced toward Montgomery. “Why don’t you select four of your men to switch off on watching her. Tell them to keep a distance and don’t sit on her house overnight. Unless we have an issue.”

Montgomery nodded. “Absolutely. When do you want us to leave?”

“Tomorrow if possible.” Alexander looked toward me again. “Go the club tonight, Donatello. I’ve heard a couple rumors. Make certain there’s no trouble. If there is, handle it.”

I grinned hearing the words because I knew what they meant.

Spill blood if necessary.

“Sweet music to my ears.”

CHAPTER 5

Donatello

Club Indulgence was hopping.

It seemed every night, no matter the day of the week or the month of the year, both the dance and private clubs were packed.

At least in the membership only section, discovering who was indulging in their sexual fantasies was easy to discover. Once their membership card was swiped, every movement was tracked.

I headed from the main dining room into the bar, noticing a group of men engaged in heavy conversation. Members of the city council, the very people Alexander were set to meet with regarding another land development idea he had.
