Oh.

Master was right…people had weird views on raisins.

Wait.

I knew what to do.

Picking up my phone, I ignored their sighs and huffs and weird looks as I called Master.

He’d been nice and had even done a thing where all I had to do was press one button to call him.

“What happened?”

He was really smart.

“We don’t ever move to a secondary location because that always makes the risk worse.” I’d watched enough cop shows to know that.

“Good fucking grief. You’re still at the coffee shop.” Master was also very good when it came to using the tracking app he’d put on my phone. “Where are they trying to take you?”

“They talked to me first, and they’re weird. But I think they’re taking me back to their work because Emerson says I’m distracting.” I didn’t understand how but I wasn’t taking the fall for it. “I followed all the rules. Every single one. All of them.”

This was not my fault.

Master sighed.

Thank goodness.

“I know, pretty boy. I’ve been following you and you’ve done very well. You’ve even been texting like you were supposed to and didn’t follow them off to a secondary location. You did good.”

“When did we become the weird ones?”

I knew not to answer that even before Master cleared his throat.

No matter what other people seemed to think, Master had a very smart doll and I was not as weird as everyone seemed to think.

Chapter 20

Leonardo

This was getting ridiculous.

“No, they’re not dragging him off unsupervised.” For a variety of reasons. “If I have to call someone higher up the food chain of crazy at that company, I’m going right to the top.”

I’d met Eli at several events and I wasn’t afraid of the drama queen.

I also knew some of his favorite artists and I knew how to bribe crazy people.

Luca grunted like he’d winced. “Don’t you think this is taking control too far? Last night was your first date.”

“He called me and started off explaining that he knew not to move to a secondary location.” I was glad my boy knew he was surrounded by crazy and potentially dangerous levels of shenanigans. “He doesn’t know how to politely tell them no and he finds them fascinating.”

Just not to date or to talk to about work.

He just wanted to watch them like they were exotic birds at the zoo…the ones who talked and only knew dirty words.

Hell, he hadn’t even let Emerson discuss work when we’d been on our odd double date. It’d taken me a while to figure itout, but he changed the subject every time Emerson had brought up modeling.

“I don’t know what you’re expecting me to do. You’re already on your way.” Luca’s sigh was frustrating but I could hear him moving around on the other side of the phone. “They’re just being nice.”
