Clinging to some of the bags, hopping on the spot, he blew out a breath of relief when he saw all the bags being picked up.
“Let’s go drop these off in the car, then find a place to get you a sandwich.”
Outside, Bowie trailed behind Kari to the car. “Can I take Nessa with me?” he asked when they came to a stop.
Kari hit the key fob and opened the trunk, piling in the bags, then reached for Bowie’s. His smile made Bowie’s heart pound hard. “Of course you can, Babycakes.”
“Isn’t Daddy the best, Nessa?”
Chapter Thirty-Six
Kari
Kari had everything mapped out on how to make this a memorable weekend.
As a mating should be.
He wanted Bowie to look back in five, ten, twenty, even thirty years and it be something that brought back the absolute joy that should come from a mating.
With all that in mind, while Bowie had slept in, Kari had made a list. Only, he’d not considered how fucking adorable Bowie would be when set free in a toy shop. It had derailed his afternoon plans, because the look of longing he’d worn when staring at the large dinosaur had been impossible to resist. So, the movie afternoon at the multiplex to see theWicked For Goodmovie had gotten shelved, so they could head back to the apartment to be there when the toy was delivered.
Bowie hadn’t been paying attention, which made it a perfect surprise. Yes, he had gone a little overboard. How could he not when, after Bowie’s initial anxiety, he forgot about who might belooking at them, and had let his enthusiasm take hold. When his Little side emerged, Kari got swept away by Bowie’s delight as he roamed the store, clutching Nessa. Watching Bowie, Kari had seen the longing his boy could not hide when he’d spotted the dinosaur. He just had to buy it and arrange for it to be delivered.
They had only been home an hour before it had arrived. Kari had caught Bowie’s wide-eyed look of delight on his phone and shared it with Popi. Bowie had gotten all emotional and given Kari several cuddles and kisses to thank him. It had taken concerted effort not to give in to temptation and jump right into claiming him. Only, Bowie had derailed that with his excitement about his new friend ‘Roarer’ and had to half carry, half drag it around to find the perfect place for it, all his other new toys forgotten. In between, Bowie had rolled on Roarer in the middle of the floor getting Kari to join him in the wrestling match. Of course, the dinosaur won.
The afternoon had flown by in fits of giggle and squeals of delight. By bath time, it was another test of Kari’s restraint with how flushed and happy Bowie was. Several times, he’d had to remind himself he wanted to make this special for Bowie and for him. He didn’t want either of them to rush and make it feel unimportant when this was what Bowie had been bold enough to ask for.
If his itinerary for the day had gotten derailed, who cared! It was no biggy when he had provisions for the next day already stored in the kitchen. A movie fest and pamper day, with treats and snacks. It was Bowie’s favorite way to spend a Sunday, and it would be a perfect way to give them both time to snuggle and even more bonding time, post mating.
I want to be part of that.
Huh.
The bonding. I want to snuggle.
We’ll see.
He got the sense that his wolf wasn’t listening to him when it projected a picture of him lying on the couch with Bowie wrapped around him.
His sigh was put upon as Kari paced,I said we’d see.
His gaze landed on the purple and green monster in the corner, and he grinned at seeing Nessa stuffed in between one of its arms and its large body.
At the sound of the bathroom door opening, he forgot how to breathe. The man nervously standing in the doorway was gorgeous. Styled, gleaming hair framed Bowie’s face accentuating his high cheekbones, doe eyes and the long, inky black eyelashes that fluttered while he tugged at the hem of his suit jacket.
“You look gorgeous.” The suit fit the broadness, and, paired with the cream shirt, made his skin glow with health. He looked polished in a way Kari had never seen before. “How did I get so lucky?”
“Really?” Bowie murmured, walking towards Kari. A blush gave color to his cheeks, his shyness nothing new, but it remained endearing.
Kari kissed him, keeping it light, just a brush of lips, until Bowie opened for him, encouraging Kari to deepen the kiss.
“When we get home, I’ll give you all the kisses.”
“Okay,” Bowie muttered moodily, and Kari had to bite the inside of his cheek to hold back his laughter.
He took hold of Bowie’s hand, interlacing their fingers, and led him to the door. “The car is waiting.”
“You’re not driving?”
