After Liam was rude to me last week, he went back to acting like nothing happened. Chatting it up, flirting. Every time I tried to explain that I wasn’t interested, he’d shoot me down by saying he was only being friendly and just wanted to be friends.
It’s one thing to tell someone you don’t want to get back together, but to tell them you don’t want to be friends? That's kind of harsh. Unless he does something that crosses the line, I’m not going to say anything. He’s harmless, for the most part.
Plus, we don’t share any of the same classes. The only time I run into him is at lunch. And possibly at parties.
“You don’t have to worry about him. I made it clear that nothing would be happening between the two of us.”
“Good.”
We finish eating and go on with our day. I met up with Roland at the library.
So, I lied to Aria, kind of. It wasn’t exactly a date, but a study date. I’m not sure if I’m ready to go on a real date with him. We’ve only talked a handful of times. He seems nice, and he’s funny. Very nice to look at. But I want to make sure we vibe well before we start dating.
Yes, I know what you might think, I already hooked up with the guy, but that was a drunken night and on a not-so-clear head.
It won’t be happening again. Next time I hook up with Roland, I want to be clear-minded and know it’s something more.
Not that I want something more with him right away. One day at a time. Or should I say one date at a time?
“Tonight was fun,” Roland says as we walk toward my place. “We should do it again.”
“It was.” I chuckle, giving him a grin. “And I actually got some work done.”
“Did you think you wouldn’t?” His boyish smile makes me laugh.
“I mean, as much as I enjoy literature class, if I’m this close to a hot guy, it’s hard not to get distracted.”
“You think I’m hot?” he asks.
I roll my eyes and smile. “Duh.”
“Well, I think you’re hot, too.”
“Thanks.” I chuckle.
We walk back to the house. “I’m gonna head inside and see one of my buddies. But we’ll talk later?” Roland says as we walk up the steps to the front door.
“Yeah,” I say. “Sounds good.”
Roland opens the door for me, and I follow him in. He takes off, and I head to the kitchen.
Opening the fridge door, I grab for a bottle of water when a voice catches me by surprise, making me jump. “Is he your new boyfriend now?”
Spinning around, I find Easton leaning against the counter.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.” I raise a brow, twisting off the cap of the bottle and taking a drink.
“Is that your new thing now?” He frowns, crossing his arms over his chest.
“What are you talking about?” My brow furrows.
“Dating my teammates. Couldn’t get with me, so you’re getting with my friends?”
I’m taken aback by his comment. “You’re joking, right?” I snort, shaking my head. “Don’t be so full of yourself, Easton. You really think I’d be sitting around and pining after you for eight years? We were thirteen. I was a kid with a stupid crush on his best friend. One that obviously wasn’t reciprocated. That doesn’t mean I made some grand scheme to fuck all the guys on your football team years later.”
I roll my eyes. Is this guy for real?
“I just happen to have been in a relationship with someone on your team. One that lasted three years. Since the breakup, Roland is the only other guy on your team I’ve shown any interest in. That's two guys out of like sixty. But yes, tell me about how I’m fucking them all to get back at you.”
