My heart warmed because it was like he knew I needed this.
Me: I’m not panicking. I’m glad we could go with you.
Best Sam: You are panicking. You are overthinking this, please don’t. We had so much fun.
My phone chimed again and my heart leapt in my chest as I switched over to another text thread.
Forest: I hope you have a good shift.
Me: Thanks. It will be long and boring.
Forest: Well, just think of all the fun we will have when you get out of work and maybe it won’t be so bad. Be safe.
My cheeks heated remembering our night together and the lazy day we had in the hotel. I went from having no sex to definitely making up for it. Sam was right. I needed to enjoy this. I switched over to Sam’s texts.
Me: I had a lot of fun, and I hope we still have a lot more.
Best Sam: Oh baby, we've only just started having fun.
My stomach clenched from all the fun we could be having and just like that, Sam made me forget about everything I had been worrying about. Leave it to him to make me feel at ease in less than ten minutes. I kissed Barnaby’s head, getting up to make sure he had enough food before I left for work.
Thankfully, I had enough sense to pack my bag so all I had to do was change, grab my bag and leave for the station. I arrived at the station a little late and I tried to slip in with no one noticing, but I wasn’t that lucky.
“Jude!”
I looked back, seeing Bailey stepping out of the fire truck.
“Hey, Bailey,” I said, waving as I walked to my locker.
“How was your trip?” she asked, walking with me.
“Good. Denver was nice,” I said, opening my locker.
“Yeah, and how was the game? You looked mighty cozy with Forest and Webber,” she smirked.
“What do you mean, looked?” I closed my locker.
“Oh, Honey. They panned to you guys a few times and I have to say, Forest looked like he was undressing you and Webber a few times,” she said, raising her eyebrows suggestively.
I didn’t know what to say to her, so I said the first stupid thing that came to mind. “We are just good friends.”
“Jude, that didn’t look like good friends, but if it is, I need to look for some friends that look at me like that,” she said, making my face warm. “Oh my god, Jude, you need to spill the tea.”
“There’s no tea to spill,” I said, walking away from her.
“Your face says otherwise, but ok, Jude, keep your secrets,” she said, following like a puppy. “But I have one question.”
“I’m not going to answer it.” I got into the fire truck ready to check on the oxygen tanks.
“I might not need you to answer it, but Forest had BDE,” she smirked. “Please tell me it's not all energy.”
I tried to keep a straight face, willing the gay gods to keep my face from getting red, but the bastards loved to see me squirm.
“Of course he has a big dick,” she sighed. “I bet he knows how to use it or tell you how to use it.”
Just kill me now. Even my ears felt hot.
“I bet he has a deep voice that says you're a good boy,” she said, fanning herself. “God, what I wouldn’t give for him to tell me I’m a good girl.”
