He remembered what she’d said when they were about to shoot her. Paying them back. Who did she owe money to? It wasn’t Xan or she would be on their radar. If it was his rival, Davidiuk, that could explain the scar. That scumbag had no issues with roughing up anyone—women included. If a woman owed Xan money, he’d go after her husband, or dad, or some other guy in her life.

“Who did you thinkwewere?” Ezra asked. “You said something about money.”

“Fuck off.”

He chuckled. He liked this fearless thing. She would probably spit in the Grim Reaper’s face if he got too close.

Ezra tugged her arm to get her to start moving. Her feet shuffled next to him as they trekked down the hill, winding through dense trees with budding leaves. Another burst of wind made her shiver in his grip, teeth chattering loudly. They would be back in the van soon.

Ryker followed close behind as Ezra led the way back where they had parked at the end of a gravel road.

Once it was in view, she said, “You’re really taking me back, right? You aren’t going to just kill me somewhere else?”

“We aren’t killing you, pretty girl,” Ryker said.

She stilled for half a beat before continuing forward.

Ryker opened the van and moved to put the bag on her head again. She twisted away. “Please don’t put that back on me. It’s suffocating.”

“If you want to go home, it’s going on.”

Willow shifted on her feet, her mouth set in a hard line. “Fine. But can you move my arms in front?”

Ezra answered, “No. We aren’t that stupid.”

She rolled her eyes. “Only stupid enough to grab the wrong person, apparently.”

He nudged her against the van and boxed her in. Even pressed against her and in total control, she had no fear. She just stared up at him with those hard, icy eyes as the breeze whipped her pitch black hair around.

Why was she so familiar? It was going to drive him crazy. Maybe she was on one of those cam sites he’d used before. He liked the goth types covered in tattoos and piercings.

“You have quite the mouth on you,” Ezra said, not exactly threatening. He imagined what his dick would look like in it, those pretty blues looking up at him as he hit the back of her throat.

She must have felt him getting hard again, because her eyes flicked down briefly. Still, her resolve to stare death in the face and not even flinch stayed in place. If they weren’t about to part ways, he would take his time to learn why she was like this.

“Bag,” Ezra said.

As they slid the cloth over her head, her glare remained intact. It was a shame to cover her face. He would definitely be picturing it later.

Chapter 7

Willow

They were the guys she bumped into outside of K-Shop.

The light-haired one’s voice had sounded familiar and once he called her “pretty girl”, she knew. Her initial suspicion that they were trouble had been correct. Apparently, they kidnap girls and kill them in the woods.

Why would they want to kill Samantha, though? Her neighbor was soft-spoken and kept to herself. What could she have possibly done to get the attention of these two?

Whatever it was, Willow needed to make sure they didn’t get wind that she knew them. Well, sort of. She didn’t know them at all, but she knew their faces. They were only going to take her home because they thought their identities were safe.

Something about their danger was intriguing. Even if the smart thing was to shut up and listen to every instruction, she couldn’t help prodding them. The one guy had definitely gotten aroused when wrestling with her and then again when he’d pushed her against the van. A sick part of her wanted it to go further and she had to scream at herself internally to not try anything.

Her entire arm throbbed viciously as they led her back into the van, bag on and breathing the hot air trapped against her face. Ugh. It was disgusting, but at least it was a break from the cold.

One of them sat next to her again as he urged her onto the floor. As the van moved, they hit a bump, jostling her hard enough that she landed on her bad shoulder.

“Fuck…” she whimpered as she sank her teeth into her bottom lip.
