I let out a surprise laugh.
“Tinder for vampire clans?Oh my god. Most vampires are centuries old. I’m not sure all of them even know how to navigate a smartphone, let alone create apps to find new clan members.”
But in all honesty, his question was valid.
How would one go about finding a new clan?
And…
I blinked.
Was that why the fledgling was looking for us?
Maybe someone had mentioned that Bennie and I were of a similar age. Maybe he was just looking for help.
And if so, we definitely needed to find him.
“Where did your mind go?” Finn asked. “You suddenly went all tense on me.”
“I, ahh… there’s a fledgling out there. Bennie and I don’t know him, but apparently he’s been asking for us. We’ve been trying to find him for weeks, but haven’t had any luck. We don’t know why he’s looking for us. And we’re not sure he’s still in the area, let alone alive, but… now I’m wondering if he was trying to find us because he needed help.”
Finn was quiet for a while. “Why did you think he was trying to find you?”
I shrugged. “No idea. That’s why we wanted to locate him. And to make sure he’s not a threat. It’s a bit concerning to have a complete stranger asking questions about you.”
Finn nodded. “So, what you’re trying to tell me is that I should keep away from unknown vampires?”
I instinctively tightened my hold on him, my fangs dropping as a growl vibrated in my chest. “Definitely keep away from unknown vampires.”
From all vampires.
Except maybe from Bennie.
Finn laughed. “Damn, why is you going all caveman… or all vampire on me so hot?”
I had no idea, but I definitely wouldn’t complain. I smiled against his hair and kissed the top of his head as a comfortable silence stretched between us, with Finn shifting and moving until he was comfortably snuggled up against me. He settled with a sigh.
“Can we start the movie again?” he asked, and I let out a laugh.
“Whatever you want.”
That’d always be true for me.
Whatever he wanted, I’d give it to him.
Chapter 25
Finn
“Ineed to leave,” Eric whispered against my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.
“Don’t want you to,” I grumbled, blindly reaching for my boyfriend and pulling him on top of me so I could slant our lips together.
“The sun’s going to rise soon. I can’t stay.”
“Because you’re a vampire,” I said. I couldn’t help it; I needed to make sure this whole thing wasn’t a wild dream.
“Yeah.” He kissed me again. “And you don’t have blackout curtains.”
