“Nope,” he laughed, his playful smile returning. “It’s not like there are ‘how to raise a vampire’ books freely available. And as it turns out, my old master has been kinda bad about sharing important things.”
That one I believed.
Bennie’s old clan leader was a fucking scumbag.
“Anyway, that’s not important right now,” Bennie said, kicking off his shoes. “Let’s both get a bit of sleep, and then we can talk about what we want to do about that fledgling guy in the afternoon. I assume you want to meet Finn in the evening?”
I grimaced. “I’ll… uh… check in with him. But I’m kinda meeting the guys who live opposite him this evening.”
Bennie raised his eyebrows at me.
Oops. I might never have told him about that bit. “We became good friends because we spent a lot of time together in the summers… They like to hang out on the roof.”
Bennie blinked at me, oh so slowly. “You made friends while stalking your mate?”
“Kinda?”
“And now you’re hanging out with them?”
“They’re watching hockey, and I realized I haven’t been over in quite a while, soo… yeah?”
Bennie laughed, clapping my shoulder while simultaneously shaking his head. “I want to say please don’t ever change, but I still can’t condone your stalking tendencies.”
Chapter 17
Finn
Iwiped my hands on my sweatpants, then reached for the door. Just another minute until Eric would be here.Finally. It’d merely been a week we’d spent apart, yet it felt like it’d been ages. Our timing had just been so damn off.
First, my parents had come up here for a visit—and Eric and I definitely weren’t ready for the whole meet-the-parents thing yet. Then Eric’s friend had something going on, and Eric had needed to help, then I’d promised my friend to meet up for a trivia night, the first one in months I’d managed to attend, and Eric had some kind of appointment in the morning.
Oh, we’d texted and talked a lot, but it just wasn’t the same.
But now he was finally gonna be here. Any second now, the elevator door would slide open and… there.
My smile was so wide it hurt as Eric came into view, his face this stoic, resting mask until he spotted me standing in thedoorway. He lit up then; the smile brightening his face until he looked like he was glowing. He picked up speed and then suddenly crashed into me.
I laughed, even as my back hit the wall inside my apartment with a dull thud and the air was punched from my lungs. Eric was crowding me, his body pressing against mine, the cold and wetness from outside soaking through my clothes in seconds.
I didn’t mind, though. Couldn’t mind when his lips on mine were so fucking hot they lit a fire inside me. Couldn’t mind when his thigh forced my legs apart and put pressure on my cock. Couldn’t mind when he moaned as our tongues met for the first time. Couldn’t mind when I tasted my favorite fucking tea on him.
“Missed you,” Eric murmured against my lips, his voice laced with desperation as his hands found their way into my hair, holding on for dear life. “Missed you so fucking much.”
“Me too.”
His eyes flashed, and then he was on me again, mouth crashing against mine, our teeth clacking.
I let out a little laugh that turned into a surprised yelp as Eric hoisted me up and carried me through the apartment, our lips never losing contact until he threw me onto my mattress.
“Seriously, dude,” I said with a laugh as I bounced off the mattress. “What’s your workout routine? It’s not like I’m made of feathers.”
Eric just snorted, looking down at me with an intense stare as his fingers worked quickly to unbutton his coat.
“I’m just naturally strong.”
Rolling my eyes, I pushed myself up onto my elbows, watching Eric like a hawk.
“Natural strength, my ass.”
