In the end, Adam gave up because he must have figured he wasn’t going to win, especially when his step-dad waved the ticket confirmations in front of him.
“What are you laughing at, He-Man?” he snarked.
I draped my arm over his shoulders and kissed his cheek. “There are two of you now. You’ve met your match.”
Before we left Long Beach, we traded in our regular rental for a convertible so we could take in the sights and sounds along the Pacific Coast Highway on the way back to Oceanside. We stopped to see the seals along the rocks at Newport Beach.
When we stopped in Laguna, I parked on the street so we could take a walk on the beach. Before we left, we sat down in the sand for a few minutes to talk.
Adam sat with his arms around his bent knees, looking out over the blue water of the Pacific. He had a new contentment about himself now. I glanced over at him to find his hair a bit disheveled by the wind, but the new smile he wore made him even more beautiful than he already was.
“I still can’t believe they’re my family. And my dad and Logan are…”
“Everything you always wanted in parents?”
He nodded slowly and turned to look at me with green eyes that were more green than brown today. “Yeah, they are.”
I leaned back on my elbows so I could run my fingers through his hair. Adam smiled and leaned into my touch.
“You’re one lucky man, Rockstar. You have so many people who love you.”
He released a little chuckle and put his hand over mine.
“Including you,” he said with awe in his tone.
I smiled. “Especially me. The rest have to get in line.”
Adam grinned, and for the first time, I think he actually believed it.

Later that evening, after everyone had gone to bed, we lounged on the steps in the warm water. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing nearby helped us both unwind.
I found myself watching him more and more as he relaxed into what he called a new life. As he gazed up at the night sky full of stars twinkling overhead, I couldn’t take my eyes off him.
“I could live here,” Adam murmured as he leaned back on the steps, submerged up to his neck in the water.
“It’s a beautiful place to live. But wouldn’t you miss Portland?”
“Of course, I would. My family is—”
I smiled. “Your family is what, Rockstar?”
He shifted and put his left leg over mine, then settled on my lap, facing me. Adam’s arms encircled my neck as he moved closer. I leaned in to kiss the roses tattooed on his forearm. “My family is in Portland. And now they’re in Long Beach.”
“And Oceanside,” I reminded him.
His smile was beautiful, and I couldn’t keep my hands off him any longer.
“And Oceanside,” he repeated as I hugged him closer to me.
Adam leaned in to kiss me, and I ran my hands over his back and down to his ass before finding his crease. He sucked on my tongue and moaned as I circled the rim of his entrance. Flexing his groin muscles, he pushed his dick toward me, his hole clinching while I pressed the tip of my finger into it.
Adam broke our kiss, but gripped my shoulders with his hands as he leaned back to let his head fall to his shoulders. His Adam’s apple was right where I wanted it, making it easy for me to latch onto it.
His half growl, half moan at the feel of my lips and fingers on him ramped up my own need. But I could wait until he was ready, and fortunately, that didn’t take long.
“Let’s take this inside,” he groaned, the vibration tickling my lips.
