“I can’t believe all this. And I’m a fucking mess. I’m not a crier. But this has been both the best and worst twenty-four hours of my life.”
I kissed his forehead. “I know, baby. Do you forgive me for not telling you sooner?”
Adam looked over at me and nodded. “Yeah. But why did you wait? I should be pissed that you kept it from me, but it’s hard to do that now.”
I released a caged breath and looked him in the eye. “I had a gut feeling the situation with your mother was going to end badly. I thought you might need some good news after all this.”
He paused, seemingly thinking over my logic. “I get it. But did you meet my father?”
I shook my head. “No. Only talked to him on the phone three days ago. He’s been out of the country. But I asked him about your mother, and he admitted to giving her a fake name. But he was a kid. Nineteen at the time. And she was older and hot.”
Adam raised his brows at me, making me laugh. I held up my hands. “His words, I swear.”
He shook his head with a smirk on his face, then turned to crawl into my lap. He wound his arms around my neck. Our mouths met for a sweet kiss, before he pulled back and rested his head on my shoulder.
I ran my hands over his soft t-shirt as we both remained quiet for a while. I knew he was thinking about his mother, and now his father. He had a whole new family to consider.
“Thank you, Michael. You’ve changed my life. And I want to meet them. So, what’s next?” he asked, his voice soft and hesitant.
I smiled, then tilted my head to kiss his cheek. “There’s nothing to thank me for, darlin’. Your dad won’t be back in the states for another three weeks. So I was thinking you could come to Oceanside with me to meet my family for Christmas. Then we can drive up the PCH and meet them. Together.”
Adam sat back and studied my gaze. “You want me to meet your family?”
I threw my head back and laughed at him. “Yes, of course. When are you going to get it through your head that I don’t plan on letting you go, Rockstar?”
He smiled. “Yeah, okay.”
He paused and looked around his big, almost empty apartment. When he looked back at me, I smiled. “I’ll go, but there’s one condition.”
“Which is?” I asked, waiting for his answer.
“You help me find a roommate. This place is too fucking big for just me.”
I pulled him closer. “I can do that. Looking for anything in particular in a roommate?”
He hummed. “Yeah. He’s gonna need to know how to cook and work that fancy ass coffee machine in the kitchen.”
The smirk on Adam’s face made him even more handsome than he already was. Maybe even hotter than when he was being demanding. “Anything else?”
He looked away and tapped his chin as if he were thinking it over. “Yep. He needs to have a great smile, be flirty, and enjoy movie nights on the sofa.”
Adam paused again as he thought up more ways to describe me. I’d caught on when he mentioned cooking.
“He needs to keep his promises, be extremely lovable, gentle, and caring. And he must be willing to put up with my messiness.”
I nodded, knowing what he was getting at. “That last one might be a deal breaker, Rockstar.”
He smiled. “Know anyone like that?”
Now I acted like I was thinking it over, then nodded. “Yeah. I think I do. Dreamboat is still looking for a roommate.”
Adam’s eyes went wide as a smile overtook his face. “Dreamboat? Yeah, that could work. He’s dreamy. I’ll email him an application.”
I smirked and shook my head. “Sure, Rockstar. You go with that.”
Taking his face in my hands, I pulled his mouth to mine for a slow, toe-curling kiss.
The attraction we felt for each other was more than sexual. Sure, we were like magnets when the clothes came off, but this was like no connection I’d ever had.
