I looked into his loving eyes, and I knew right then and there that I was gone for him. More gone than ever before. The gentle way he cared for me and my heart brought tears to my eyes.
“I’m having a fucking emotional moment right now. But not pain,” I reassured him.
Michael reached down and kissed me gently as he rocked his hips into me. Before we fell apart, he laid his forehead on mine to savor the experience.
“You’re mine, Adam. You’re mine,” he groaned as he let go and released himself inside me.
“Yours,” I groaned as the emotions carried me away. A few more thrusts and nudges to my gland sent me over the edge, hurtling me into a blissful, slow release.
Michael rolled us and pulled me into his arms. I rested my head over his heart and listened to its rhythm while he held me close.
The world may be a shit show outside of these walls, but I knew I could weather anything as long as I had him.
CHAPTER14
MICHAEL
The Monday after the break-in,I was back in the office going through my email, thinking about how much things had changed since last Thursday.
Adam and I were going to try to make a go of this thing we felt for each other, and I’d convinced him to look at safer places to live. If anything good could come from having your home violated, we’d managed to find it.
Saturday, we spent the day looking at apartments and high rises with secure entrances and safety measures. The first two were good, but left me a little uneasy.
When we arrived at the third one, I recognized it immediately. It was the same building Jesse and Dominick lived in. They’d initially rented it from Declan Miller, the Pirates star running back, before they bought it.
The apartment was three floors below theirs, but was just as big. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms were more than he wanted, but when you took the price compared to the other two, along with the upgraded security an up and coming rockstar needed into consideration, it was a no-brainer.
The realtor wrote up an offer that had been accepted before we left the apartment.
“I’m going to need a roommate for this huge place. I don’t need all these bedrooms.”
I smiled and looked around the place. “You can use one as your studio, and the other one can be for the live-in maid you’re going to need to hire to keep the place clean.”
Adam laughed, then elbowed me in the gut. “You’re an asshole.”
“Maybe. But you love me anyway.”
He turned and looked at me with comically wide eyes. I hadn’t realized what I’d said until he went pale, making me laugh. He was such an overthinker.
“What’s wrong, Rockstar?” I knew what he was flipping out about. I guess I should have told him sooner, but I think I fell in love with him in the drive thru the minute he accused me of flirting with everyone.
“You said…” he trailed off, tilting his head to the side as if he were trying to process my words..
I smiled and wrapped my arms around him. “Calm down, darlin’. When I became a SEAL, my father pulled me aside and gave me some really important advice.”
“Don’t drink the water in foreign countries?”
I laughed at his quick wit. “Yes, but that wasn’t it.”
“I know. It was don’t pay too much for your car insurance.”
I shook my head and laughed. “No, idiot. That’s not it.”
“He should have told you that. You could save a bundle. Especially if you get that one with the lizard.”
I threw my head back and laughed, then wrapped him tightly in my arms. “It’s a gecko. Shut up and listen.”
Adam looked up at me, and I saw the terrified little boy living inside him. I had to kiss him sweetly. “Let’s try this again.”
