“Fuck,” Sevrin grits and I have no clue why.

Karev steps back into the kitchen.“Dave and the other two medical examiners are a little banged up, but alive.Shock is calming them down. What do you want to do, Prez?Call Nathan?Let him handle this shit?”

Two soft pops fill the air, and the two men crash to the floor as Sevrin states, “Call Nathan.Let him know you found the three missing persons and that we had to shoot the fuckers who kidnapped them.We don’t want them chattering about whatever they saw or heard.Keep your eyes and ears open.My old lady has an eerie feeling.”

“Fuck,” Karev grumbles and glares at me.

“Hey,” I snap.“Don’t blame me, and why the hell is it so weird if I have an eerie feeling?Maybe it’s because of you guys, shooting people in freaking front of me.It’s not like that happens every damn day.”

Karev points at Sevrin.“His Ma always got an eerie feeling right before some bad shit happened. The woman was never wrong. So, don’t think lightly about that shit.A woman’s instinct is rarely off-kilter.”

A chill runs up my spine.“Well, I hate to say it...but the feeling just intensified.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

–SEVRIN –

Karev is right. My mother could sense evil. She gained the ability after she completed the bond with my father. It saved their asses more than once over centuries. It’s the reason why I know about it, because my mother has told me more than once about the new abilities my parents gained through their bond.

The way Fosca describes it makes me think she gained the same ability.Doesn’t matter if I’m right or not; I’m going to listen to her instinct anyway.Putting my gun back in its holster, I grab my phone and shoot a message to Lucan.

“I don’t care if it’s the middle of the day, I’m bringing in the centaurs,” I announce and hit send on the message.

“Where do you need me?”Karev asks.

“The humans.”I jerk my chin in the direction of the shed.“Help Shock.Call Nathan.”

Fosca shivers when Karev shakes his head.“I should stay here with you guys.”

“Go,” I snarl and hold my hand out for Fosca to take.“We got this.”

Fosca links her fingers with mine and a strong gush of wind knocks down the frames hanging from the walls.

She gives me a firm nod and turns to Karev.“We’re stronger together. There’s four of us and only one of him.”

The floor starts to shake underneath us from the hum of power radiating from us.
