CHAPTER NINE
–SEVRIN –
I step into the backyard and let the door of the clubhouse fall shut behind me.With a twist of my finger I create a soundproof water dome around me.Thumbing through my phone, I find Swade’s number.
Swade is an older, human member of the Kings of Anarchy Nowalk, Maryland chapter.I recently found out my sister, Senna, had a child with a human decades ago to sever the bond with Cassius.I’ve always suspected this little fact, but with the bond cut she also became invisible for us.It’s what kept her safe from Cassius.
Though, the knowledge of the existence of my niece is a well-kept secret. At least, I hope it still is.The moment I knew about her existence I wanted to bring her here to keep her safe.Fatal, the president of the Nowalk chapter, claimed her as his old lady. The fucker made me respect the claim, and I had no other choice because my niece accepted the claim to be the president’s old lady.
I couldn’t tell her about the supernatural world within the human one, but I did gave her hints as a warning. She might not have powers, yet she sure as fuck has extended abilities.More like a spot-on gut feeling, the ability to know when someone is being honest, a high IQ, and she can’t die through drowning.
Perks. She has a lot, thanks to a chunk of DNA from a Neptune descendant.Yet, she might have our blood running through her veins, but that doesn’t make her an immortal. She’s as human as her old man, which is also why I accepted his claim.
“What’s wrong,” are the first words Swade throws at me.
“The knowledge might be compromised,” I tell him.
“Fuck.Now what?”
A sigh rips from me.“High alert, maybe a short vacation just to make sure.I hope to have more information soon, but I need to know...”
“I’ll handle it with Prez.We have a run coming up, East Texas chapter.I think it’s perfect.I’ll have Fatal message you.”
“Sounds good,” I grunt.
“Did you run into the fucker?”Swade asks on a whisper.
“Indirect contact,” is all the information I have for him.
“Make sure the next time you call it’s to let me know the fucker can’t make contact at fucking all ever again,” Swade grits.
I grip my phone a little harder than necessary.“Soon enough.”
The connection ends and I let the soundproof dome evaporate. The night is dark, clouds are hiding the stars as I stare up into the darkness.Damn.The confrontation with fire-shifters could have been a life-or-death threat if Fosca faced them by herself.
She might have similar powers as mine, but not knowing how to use them would have caused her to fail to protect herself.Thank fuck they showed up when we were there.Anger flares up hotter than before as I stomp back to my room. With a wave of my hand I release the seal I placed to keep the door locked, and step inside.
