“What the fuck?”I growl.
Karev chuckles while Shock mutters, “Well, this should be interesting.”
I throw a glare at the two fucks who I forgot were there.
“I mean it, Prez.”Triton walks closer to me.“Fosca will be the president’s old lady and I don’t want to disrespect her.There.See?I gave you enough info, at least enough for you two to have a decent conversation.”He turns to Fosca.“Same goes for you.”
Triton signals at Karev and Shock and points at the door. All three leave and close the door behind them.I rub a hand over my face.Normally Triton will give me a full rundown of the shit he saw.I have no clue why he didn’t this time, even if he was fuckin’ polite about it.
Fosca’s voice is a mere whisper and it takes me a moment to drop my hand to stare at her while the words penetrate.
“He saw how my brother killed our whole family.”That’s what she fucking said.
All my mind comes up with is, “Why?”
She glances away.“At first we didn’t know he killed my oldest brother.See, it was an accident.A truck transporting concrete plates hit the brakes and the cargo broke free and decapitated him. It’s how Cassius stole his place to be the first in line to become your sister’s fated mate.”
She completely rips the rug out from under me with this little piece of information. If Cassius murdered his own sibling, it makes sense my sister saw the darkness taking root in his eyes. It’s the reason she left and broke the bond by getting pregnant by a human.
Not to mention, the way Fosca just described her older brother’s death? It’s the exact same way Senna died.I guess my suspicion was correct...he killed her as well.
CHAPTER SIX
–FOSCA –
Sevrin looks stunned. We’re on opposite ends and yet we each have the same end goal.I fully expected Triton to spill everything he saw inside my head...and yet he didn’t.Another thing that stunned Sevrin; Triton picked my side.
Triton told Sevrin he didn’t want to disrespect me.I’m totally skipping over the “she’s going to be the president’s old lady” thing. Not something I want to think about with Sevrin being an outlaw, and me working closely with law enforcement as a medical examiner.
I feel immensely conflicted, and yet Triton’s words echo inside my head. With everything going on it would be good to give Sevrin some more details.I mean, the enemy of my enemy is my friend...mate...asshole idiot...whatever.
Taking a deep breath, I start to spill more details, “There was a last-minute conference I had to attend, due to a speaker falling ill.None of my family knew and I went straight to the hotel after work.If I didn’t get that call?I’m pretty sure I would have been as dead as my parents, my older sister, and my other brother. He killed them all, except for me.”
Silence falls between us.The anger is visible on Sevrin’s face.
His silver eyes flare when he grits, “And he’s been trying to kill you since.”
