He lifted it away to press a kiss to her knuckles. “Not yet.”

Uh. What?

“This isn’t about me,” he said, his voice husky and rough. “This is aboutyou.”

“I should take care of you too.” She leaned in to kiss him on the mouth, something he allowed for the briefest of moments before lifting her and laying her back on the bed, her head against the pillow.

Then he pulled the blankets up to her chin and tucked her in tight.

Uh.

What the hell?

“Bax?” she asked.

“Get some sleep, Court.” He brushed his lips gently across her forehead. “I’ll tell Hans you’re coming along and that you’re napping.”

She reached her hand up to cup his face. “But…”

She glanced at the erection still bulging.

“When you’re ready for my dick, it’s got to be when neither of us wants to even think about walking away.” He leaned in, his breath brushing against her cheek. “Honestly, you ready for that?”

Yes. Oh, yes. But also, “No.”

He nodded. “Didn’t think so. But when you are, I will be too. When that happens? I’ll do more to you than we ever thought of in that shower.”

That was interesting, because she’d pretty much done everything she’d ever thought of doing to him in that shower.

Her breath stalled in her lungs.

“You know where to find me when you’re ready.” The way he said that? There was no mistaking that if she wanted to find him, he’d be oh so very ready for her.

“What if I’m ready now?” she said, breathy and sated from the orgasm to end all orgasms.

“Are you?” he asked.

She wasn’t sure. Yes, because she didn’t like being indebted to him. Also, no, because she was trying very hard to uncomplicate her already complicated life.

“You need my hand again? Any other part of me but the main event?” He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Just ask.”

“Bax, you’re being ridiculous—”

He pressed his fingertip to her lips. “Let’s just get this out there. Things changed for us, and I want more. I want you and the life we didn’t mean to start. I’m not compromising that for a quick roll in the sheets. You mean a helluva lot more to me than that.” Whew. The seriousness of his gaze. “So if you’re feeling like you need me to get you off, I’m down for that. But the rest of it? We’ll get to that when you’re ready to take that leap with me.”

Well, huh. That was not what she expected.

Truly, it was hard to focus after she just came like she hadn’t done in forever.

Then he turned and left. Left her sated and tired and frustrated. Mostly, however, he left her content. And… dammit. Now she had anewfavorite kind of nap.

A Bax nap.

Chapter Fourteen

Bax

“You can’t just buya house, Bax.” Courtney’s eyes sparkled with humor. “That’s not how it works. You have to go through escrow and sign contracts.”
