Back when things were…calmer.

Back…before.

“You’re welcome.” He brushed the tip of his nose against hers in a silly, intimate gesture that made her warm and fuzzy all over. “Thank you for teaching me I’ve been having sex wrong my entire adult life.”

She squirmed beside him. “You, uh, want me to showyouhow to do a backbend?”

“Will it involve another illustration?” he asked. “For scientific purposes, of course.”

“I could probably do another illustration for you.” She shrugged and it sort of actually came off as sultry.Yay, me.

That got her a full-confidence Jack grin before she gave him a lesson.

And then he gave her a lesson.

Two more of them, actually.

Chapter Twenty-Five

“Motherhood is the exquisite inconvenience of being another person’s everything.”

April

April’s day was pretty freaking outstanding. By the time the end of the evening rolled around and she headed home from teaching her classes, donating a shed-load of food to the food bank, a perma-smile seemed plastered to her mouth.

Philanthropy was amazing.

Even those who couldn’t attend her class tonight had dropped off a donation. She’d snapped a picture, and Jack took a video of the massive haul.

At his gentle prodding, she’d pitched the idea of yoga in the park to her students. There was a good vibe going with that.

He’d been thrilled with how it turned out. He even stuck around for the class before heading over to spend time with Rachel and her family.

“See what I meant?” he’d asked her, once the final tally was done and before he took off.

She did see. This wasn’t really about fixing her image. This was about using what she had for a good cause.

That was the spin.

She got that now.

Everyone benefited. Except Betsy. Which was fine.

Today was about being happy.

Even dropping the kids at Kent’s condo hadn’t stirred up a slurry of emotions like it had in the past. If anyone had asked last week, she’d have said that Kent broke her heart. Now, she was wondering if maybe he just bruised her ego and crushed her spirit? Today it was harder to remember the dreams she used to harbor in his presence.

Tonight? Tonight the drop-off was an emotional breeze. And not just because Jack was superb with bedroom activities.

Exceptional.

He even went for extra credit, which was unnecessary for him to get the highest possible grade.

Not that April had particularly questioned that. But it was good to know from firsthand knowledge that their little…whatever this was…would continue to be spectacular. Fireworks spectacular.

She deserved a dash of spectacular after the past year.
