They needed no words. No explanation of what came next. No worry for the future.

The hard length of his erection slid inside her, and they moved together in a rhythm that had them both climbing. Until he pushed them both over the edge.

And. It. Was. Glorious.

Chapter 21

Becca

Linx broke off a piece of the Kit Kat bar she’d brought over earlier. Of course, he broke it against the grain.Neanderthal. This time she didn’t mind because it was just…Linx.

He’d grabbed his boxers. She’d grabbed her panties. And then they did the second thing she’d never done on a stage: they cuddled. He slid behind her, her back to his chest. She leaned against him as he felt up every inch of her belly. This time the touch wasn’t leading anywhere—not yet. It just. It justwas.

And she wasn’t sure what to do with that.

He nudged her lips with a bit of chocolate. She opened, nipping a little at the tips of his fingers when he slid the candy against her tongue. She turned to look up at him as the chocolate melted against her tongue.

The haunted look behind his eyes still shone through, but not like before. Stage sex had helped. Because stage sex was exceptional. Her new favorite kind of sex. And, as always, Linx’s aftercare program was on point.

“How are the knots doing?” she asked, turning to face him and running her hands to his back, feeling for more knots to untie. She could pull off a few more lap dances if he needed them.

He shoved his face into her neck, inhaling deep. “Better.”

Rolling to the side, his back to the stage, Becca splayed on top of him.

He didn’t speak, just stared at the darkened lights over the stage. She pressed her ear to his chest, listening as his heart thudded.

What she needed to do was get a handle on herself because she’d fallen in deep with this guy. Somehow, in the middle of stage sex, they’d blasted right through her promises to herself that she’d ditched responsibility.

“What are you thinking?” she asked.

He sighed. “That I can’t believe you spent an entire night with that asshole.”

Wait. What? She pulled back. “You said you weren’t pissed about Bax.”

He growled against her skin. “Fuck no. I’m pissed about us.”

Hold up. What was he going on about?

“Us?” She studied his expression.

He pulled her down and pressed her head back against his chest. “All that wasted time.”

“Linx?” Becca asked, firming herself to ask the question she’d been dying for an answer to all day. “Can I ask you something?”

“Anything.”

She pressed two palms against his chest to lift herself over him. “The other day. The first time you kissed me and we didn’t…you know. In your kitchen. Are you sure that wasn’t really about Bax?”

He scratched at his temple, which stunk because that meant he pulled his hand away from her body. “I assumed you had cuddle time with Bax.”

She said nothing, didn’t move, so he would continue.

He went back to starting at the ceiling. “And I figured that meant you kind of liked him.”

She waited for him to continue. He didn’t right away. But she had tons of practice waiting for others to talk first. Here, it seemed more than a little important.

Finally, he pulled her tight against him and spoke into the hair at her temple. “I worried that you would rather have him than me. That I’m just the guy in front of you, not the one you want.”
