And then I noticed who’d just come through the door.

Harvey
I realizedSeth had played me as soon as I walked into the cozy little coffee shop he’d dragged me along to—and saw Iggy standing behind the counter.
He was meant to be resting, but then I should’ve known he wouldn’t. Iggy never could rest, even when he was asleep. I’d been kicked in the shins sharing a bed with him more times than I could count.
It took me a second to recognize the big guy standing in front of him, but then he turned a little way toward me, and I would’ve known that jawline anywhere.
Liam. Built like a linebacker and with all the subtlety of a brick.
Iggy looked upset. Should I intervene? Was it even my place to do that?
I glanced at Seth, who was too busy playing with his phone to notice, and then stepped forward.
“Yeah, Harvey and I are engaged,” Iggy said.
Dammit.
I should’ve known I wouldn’t get away with a lie like that in a town like this.
Iggy’s gaze caught mine a moment later, eyes going wide.
“H-Harvey,” he stuttered.
My heart clenched. He hadn’t stumbled over my name in twenty years, but hearing him do it now was doing all kinds of things to me.
Mostly, making me want to protect him any way I could.
I’d gotten him into this mess. It was my responsibility to get himoutof it.
“Hey, sweetheart,” I said, closing the distance between us and swooping in to kiss him on the forehead. “You’re not supposed to be out of bed.”
My stomach clenched at what I was doing, but I couldn’t help noticing that Iggy smelled incredible all over again.
He’d also relaxed a lot now that I’d stepped in. Maybe Iwasdoing the right thing.
“Damn.” A man dressed head-to-toe in black and standing behind the espresso machine gave me a critical once-over that made me feel like he could see right through me. “What I wouldn’t give to have a hot fiancé who orders me to stay in bed.”
I wished for probably the millionth time in my life that I didn’t blush so easily.
“You don’t want a fiancé,” Iggy said, still staring at me.
I hoped I’d done the right thing, but I couldn’t ask him until Liam left.
“Changed my mind if I can have that one,” the man in black said.
“He’s a Taurus,” Iggy murmured, eyes softening. “Besides, I saw him first.”
“Well,” Liam interrupted, a little louder than I thought he meant to. “That’s… umm. Congratulations to the two of you. Everything’s right in the world, huh?”
I had no idea what that meant, but Liam was already turning away, so I figured I didn’t need to come up with a response.
“Thank you for the flowers,” Iggy called after him as he squeezed his way through a doorway I’d thought was comfortably wide.
“He brought you flowers?” I asked as the door swung closed behind Liam, a spike of…somethinghitting me in the chest.
