Kieran: I’m about to cry in the middle of this coffee shop

I grinnedat Kieran’s texts, thrilled at getting exactly the reaction I expected to the end of book five.

I’m writing the part where they get back together right now

I was writing the part where they reallygot together, where they shared their first kiss, and my stomach was full of butterflies. My babies werefinallygoing to be happy.

And then it was all downhill from there. Defeat the villain, save the world, and then…

Then I thought maybe I’d send them on a date. Afundate, clearing out a nest of minor vampires or something, but a date all the same.

Writing wasfunagain, and I had Kieran to thank for it. I finally got to do exactly what I’d wanted to from book one.

Kieran: Can I come read over your shoulder?

My stomach dropped.

Yesterday, we’d napped.Justnapped. Napped and done nothing else, barely even touched once we both crawled into bed.

It was like being kids again. Before…

Before everything. Before the trip to New York and Kieran standing up for me and kissing me in an elevator because he wanted to so badly he couldn’t wait until we got to my apartment to do it.

I should have known it wouldn’t last.

It hadn’t lasted when we were kids, either.

I’m really on a roll today and I don’t want to stop

I took a breath as I hitsend.

Keep peeling the bandaid off, Felix.

So much easier said than done.

Kieran: can I persuade you to let me bring you dinner? I don’t want you running yourself into the ground

He was just being friendly. He was justbeing friendly.

I tried to tell the butterflies in my stomach that, but like most butterflies, they weren’t listening.

I’d like that. Thank you.

This was a mistake, but the chance to see Kieran again was too good to pass up.

Kieran

By the timeI got to Felix’s place, I was starting to think I had a chance to keep him.

Sure, it’d take some work for both of us—long-distance relationships weren’t easy, but Aiden and Carter were managing pretty much the exact same distance just fine.

And Felix didn’thaveto be in New York to work. He was working here in Slow Falls right now.

Once I told him how I felt…

He’d want to stay, right? He had to.
