I could just imagine himwith his legs wrapped around my waist, pressed up against the shower wall, flushed and moaning and oh-so-eager for a good, hard fuck to settle hisscattered brain down.
Shame I was still aiming atprofessionalism.
My phone flashed just as Iwas brushing the last of that little fantasy away. Closer inspection revealed atext message from Gray.
Gray:did you givemy number to some asshole by the name of Vincent O’Rourke?
Ah.
Didn’t take much to put two andtwo together and work out that Vincent O’Rourke must have been Quinn’s uncle.
A discussion like thisdeserved a phone call, so I hit the button next to Gray’s name, put him on speaker, and went about drying off while I waited for him to pick up.
The look on Quinn’s face when he’dseen me floated back into my mind, all wide eyes and flushed cheeks.
I could see why Miles likedhim.
“Fox?” Gray asked as hepicked up the phone.
“I didn’t give him yournumber,” I said. “Did tell him what the company name was, though. I take it he’dlike to file a complaint?”
“He would. I gave him youremail address.”
“How did he take that?” Iasked, grinning at the thought.
Gray snorted. “Wasn’t thrilledto learn he’d have to complain to you, because I didn’t plan on doing anythingabout it.”
“Thanks. He was a nastypiece of work.”
“Did you touch him?” Grayasked, a note of concern in his voice.
“No. Mind you, no promises. He’s got a very punchable face.”
“You know better than topunch a guy in the face,” Gray said. “Go for the kidneys.”
“Thank you for your sageadvice,” I said, drying the worst of the water out of my hair and then tossingthe towel on my bed, then grabbing my bag to hunt for clean underwear. “To whatdo I owe the pleasure of speaking with you this evening? Other than Vincent, who can go fuck himself.”
Gray chuckled. He’d gotten used tome, and he knew I wouldn’t do the man any harm. Not unless I had genuine causeto.
“Just wanted to make sureyou were settling in,” Gray said. “Also, Miles wants a report.”
Of course he did.
“Put him on, then.”
The bed wasn’t the mostcomfortable I’d ever flopped back on, but I still sighed with pleasure as Graypassed his phone over to Miles.
It’d been a long day.
“Is he cute in person?”Miles asked the moment he had his hands on Gray’s phone.
“I’m all right, thanks,” Iteased. “Weather’s lovely, settling in here. The guest room isn’t so bad and I’vegot a lovely view of the side wall of what I think is a warehouse.”
I’d been expecting a small tomedium-sized mansion in the Hollywood hills. I wasn’t disappointed—I didn’tcare—but this was a surprise.
Miles had said Quinn wasn’t particularlyfamous and I could see now that I’d misunderstood how not-particularly-famoushe was.
His confusion about why I’d been hiredmade a lot more sense now. I was starting to wonder myself.
