I thought back to thenotebook he’dlost with a pang of guilt. I hadn’t found that for him, and Ishouldhave.
But he didn’t seem to holdit against me.
“You’ve been busy,” I said.
Quinn glanced over at me, ashy smile washing over his pretty features. I’d never get tired of seeinghim smile. Not in a million years.
“I was inspired.” Heshrugged. “You make a great muse.”
Muse.
I liked that. That was thekind of title I could get used to.
Much less mundane thanboyfriend, though I was starting to think maybe that was what I was.
Secret boyfriend, obviously.Quinn would be ready to stand up and tell the world he was gay one day, butuntil that day came, I wouldn’t push him.
I’d been ripped out of thecloset by the scruff of my neck, and I wouldn’t do that to anyone else.
“So you meant it?” I asked. “Lastnight.”
“About you coming away withme? Yeah,” Quinn said. “Yeah, I meant it. But umm. It’s okay if you’re havingsecond thoughts, I know it’s a lot to ask.”
“No second thoughts.” Ireached out, just putting my hand on his knee. Needing to be close to him.
It wasn’t too much toask. It was the only thing that wasbearable. I’d been willingto wait—and I still was, if it worked out that I couldn’t follow him—but it would’vekilled me to have had something this incredible for just a few days before itwas taken away from me for two months.
I loved Quinn, and I didn’t want to beapart from him.
Quinn smiled, covering myhand with his own. He curled his fingers around it, and then lifted it to hislips, kissing the knuckles like I had last night.
“Good,” he said, setting myhand back down a little higher up his thigh. “Because otherwise you’d begetting sexts at weird hours. And as the person who cares most about my personalsecurity, I feel like you’d object to me taking dozens of nudes before I gotone that I thought was Fox-worthy.”
“They’re all Fox-worthy,” Isaid. “Long as they’re of you. AndI’mnot the one who’s going to beupset if the whole world sees your gorgeous backside naked.”
“I’ll remember that if I’masked to do a naked photoshoot,” he said, grinning. “I’ll make arrangements onMonday. If that’s okay. I know it’s short notice.”
“Short noticewould be beingwoken up at three in the morning and told to be on a plane in twenty minutes orthey’dleave me behind. This isn’t short notice.”
Quinn laughed at that. “How does a manlike you end up with someone like me, hmm? You’ve seen the world. You’ve beenon adventures.”
“You’re sweet,” I said. “Sweet, and soft, and talented, and lovely. You’re everything I’ve never had.”
“Until now,” Quinn pushedhis fingers between mine again. “You’ve got me.”
“And I’m planning on keepingyou, if at all possible.”
Quinn set the notebookaside, sliding under the covers to face me, still clinging to my hand.
I had everything I’d ever wantedlying right in front of me. How did I getthislucky?
“I’m glad I met you,” Quinnspoke up, squeezing my hand. “You’ve changed my whole life.”
I shook my head. “You’ve changedyour whole life,” I said. “I’ve just been here. You don’tneeda knight inshining armor. You’re not some helpless princess trapped in a tower waiting to letdown her hair for Prince Charming. All you’ve ever needed was a little supportand someone on your side.”
“You’d make a pretty goodPrince Charming.”
“And I’m sure you’d make alovely princess. You’ve got the height for it.”
