“I’d like that,” Scott said.
“Good, ‘cause I’m staying.” Charlie took Scott’s plate from him and set both of them aside, leaning over to kiss him. “I hope you don’t have anywhere to be today.”
“Nowhere but here.”
Charlie smiled. That was just as well, because he didn’t want to be anywhere but here, either.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Scott watched Charlie licking the bottom of his ice cream bowl with a smile on his face, completely ignoring the movie they’d put on earlier.
He was so in love with Charlie that it made him feel ridiculous. Everything Charlie did was adorable. Even when he left his underwear on the bathroom floor, even when he left his half-full coffee cup on the table after he realized he was about to be late for work and ran off.
“You’ve been hanging out with the dogs too much,” Scott said, still smiling. He’d never been this happy. He was so glad Charlie was part of his life.
Charlie looked up, meeting Scott’s eyes as he licked melted ice cream off his lips. Scott’s throat went dry all of a sudden.
On top of being adorable, Charlie was really hot. Scott felt as though he’d come to terms with that now, stopped worrying about the fact that Charlie was a man and just let himself appreciate him.
It was nice to be at peace with that.
“I miss Fluffy,” Charlie said. “I mean, I know he’s only at Owen’s, but… I get what you mean about missing them when they go, I guess.”
“I miss him, too. But did you see the look on Kayla’s face?” Scott grinned at the memory.
Kayla had been so excited to meet Fluffy in the first place, and when she’d realized that he was going home with them, she looked like all her Christmases and birthdays had come at once.
“I did. And I saw the look on Jude’s face. And I saw the look on Owen’s face when he realized how happy it was making his husband and his daughter. I’m happy for Fluffy, too. I justmisshim. I miss him putting his big stupid head in my lap and looking at me like I was the most important thing in the world.”
Scott reached out to take Charlie’s empty bowl from him, setting it down on the coffee table and then moving to stretch out on the couch, laying his head in Charlie’s lap and looking up at him.
Charliewasthe most important thing in the world, so Scott didn’t have any trouble copying Fluffy’s expression.
Charlie made a soft noise, reaching out to trace the shell of Scott’s ear, then shoving his fingers deep into Scott’s hair and massaging his scalp. Scott closed his eyes automatically, humming at the sensation. Charlie made him feel so loved.
“You’re cuter than Fluffy,” Charlie said. “No contest.”
“I will lie with my head in your lap whenever you want,” Scott said. “Especially if you’re gonna stroke my hair like that.”
Charlie laughed. “Always. Whenever you want.”
Scott felt him pause, and then heard him scratching his arm. As it turned out, tattoos were kinda gross while they were healing.
It hadn’t stopped him wanting to get one to match Charlie’s one day.
“Do you want me to get your antiseptic cream?” Scott asked.
“I’m okay,” Charlie said. “I’ll put it on before bed. Just so I can get it all over you again.”
Scott shrugged, settling deeper into the couch, since he wasn’t about to have to move. “At least you know I’m bacteria-free.”
“That is the number one thing I look for in a boyfriend,” Charlie said. “That, and a huge cock.”
Scott cracked an eye open. “Do I, uh… do I have one of those?”
“I’m joking, but you have nothing at all to be ashamed of. All of you is perfect.”
“All ofyouis perfect.” Scott turned his head to kiss Charlie’s stomach through his t-shirt. “So you’re staying the night?”
