Seth looked down at his shoes. He wanted Oz to like him, but he wasn’t convinced there was a whole lot to like. “Sorry. I think you’re a very smart man, but I don’t understand why you’re bothering with me.”
“Maybe I like you,” Oz said. “Besides, you’re my little brother now.”
Seth wrinkled his nose. “Brother in law. And I’m not little.”
Oz raised an eyebrow. He didn’t need to say anything. The six inches in height he had on Seth said it all.
“I’m normal sized. You’re freakishly tall.”
“I’m six foot two,” Oz said. “I’m barely tall enough for basketball.”
“Basketball players are not representative of average heights,” Seth countered. “Ilikethat you’re tall, but you are very tall.”
“They say everything’s bigger in Texas.”
Seth shivered involuntarily, thinking about the last time he’d had that thought. He’d been around Oz five minutes and he already wanted to climb him like a tree.
Normally, he was bored of people after two or three rounds. He hadn’t gotten enough of Oz yet, though.
“What?” Oz asked as he walked out of the elevator, striding across the parking lot with purpose.
“Honestly? I was thinking about your cock.”
Oz chuckled, getting out a set of car keys.
A black Escalade unlocked automatically in front of Seth.
He blinked for a few moments, looking between Oz and the car.
“I don’t know what I expected you to drive,” he said. He wasn’t sure if he was surprised or not, but it seemed… excessive.
“For a second there I thought you were expecting a horse,” Oz joked. “Why did you think I wanted to take my car?”
Seth shrugged. “Alpha male control freak issues? I didn’t think it was because you drove a land yacht.”
To Seth’s dismay, Oz’s shoulders slumped. His stomach turned over as he realized he’d said the wrong thing, but he wasn’t sure how to fix it.
“I don’t think you’re a control freak,” he tried, hoping that was the part Oz was reacting to. “I just meet a lot of men who are. And I know you don’t want to hear about all the other men, so I’ll shut up now.”
Oz took a deep breath. “You don’t need to shut up. I’m not an innocent virgin either, I know I’m not your first and I probably won’t be your last. That’s not… I have workedso hardfor everything I have now, and I just… I know you don’t mean to be dismissive, but you kinda hit a nerve. That’s all. I’m not mad, I’m just having a knee-jerk reaction.”
Seth made a sympathetic noise, unable to stop himself. “I’m in awe of you,” he said. “You’ve done everything I wish I could. Cut ties and made it on your own. I don’t want you to feel bad about that.”
“I am a control freak, though,” Oz admitted. “And I’m kinda starting to like being called an alpha male.”
Relief washed over Seth. They weren’t about to have an argument. They were having an adult conversation about their feelings.
At least, that was what it seemed like they were doing. Seth didn’t really have a lot of those.
Oz was a real adult. Seth didn’t spend a lot of time with real adults. He wasn’t sure he was one himself. He’d never had the chance to become his own man.
“You’re the most mature man I’ve ever had sex with,” Seth said. “It’s hot.”
Oz chuckled. “Thanks. Get in the car, will you?”
“Yes, sir.” Seth winked as he opened the passenger-side door, climbing in and settling into the leather upholstery.
This car actually did seem like the kind of thing Oz would drive. Solid and practical and just a little flashy. Just like him.
