At least this gave him an excuse to get in touch with Oz. He’d been considering it all of last week, but he hadn’t quite been able to think of a good reason, and he didn’t want to look desperate or clingy. This was a blessing in disguise.
Especially since he’d spent the weekend at home fantasizing about Oz instead of finding someone else. That was… unusual for him, to say the least.
Wanna come to another wedding with me?he typed, his finger hovering over the send button.
What if Oz said no? Could he handle that?
If Oz had moved on, this whole event would be a hundred times more miserable.
If he didn’t text Oz soon, though, his weekend could easily get booked up. Seth had no idea what Oz’s social calendar usually looked like. He was just assuming he’d be free.
Seth really, really needed him to be free. He hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him, and as much as he hated himself for that, the fact remained.
Taking a deep breath to steel himself, he hit send and waited for confirmation that the message had been delivered, chewing on his lip the entire time.
Oz would totally want to see him again.
He couldn’t let himself think anything else right now.
Chapter Fifteen
Wanna come to another wedding with me?
Oz could barely believe what he was reading. He’d spent the whole weekend wondering if he should just text Seth, tell him he wanted to see him again, that he wanted more of whatever they had. Now, Seth had beaten him to it.
It wasn’t exactly an earnest declaration of romantic interest, but it was something. It was an invitation to see him again, at least.
Depends on when and where, he responded, not wanting to sound too eager.
Somewhere… in… Texas? I actually didn’t ask beyond that. This weekend.
It’s a big state, Oz texted back automatically. He also didn’t want to seem standoffish, in case Seth changed his mind, so he wasn’t exactly sure how to balance his responses.
Let me start again. I’d be very grateful if you’d come to this wedding as my guest.
Oz went to respond just as another text popped up.
Grateful meaning whatever kind of sex you want is on the table.
Oz licked his lips. He honestly hadn’t thought as far as sex. He just wanted to see Seth again.
That probably wasn’t a good sign. Not in terms of how deep in he was with this guy.
It hadn’t escaped his attention that Seth had saidguest. Not partner, or boyfriend, or even date. Guest.
He knew he’d done that too, and maybe it was just Seth being Seth, but it stung a little. In the rich fantasy world he’d dreamed up where Seth had to move down his way for work or something, Sethwashis boyfriend.
Being reminded of reality was a little jarring. It wasn’t as though he was obsessed with the idea or anything, but…
It was what he wanted, and he could be honest with himself even if he couldn’t be honest with Seth. In an ideal world, Seth would be his boyfriend.
In the less-than-ideal real world, he’d take what he could get. He missed Seth. The chance to see him again was too good to pass up.
I was already going to agree, he texted back.
I’ll stand by my weird sex offer, Seth responded almost immediately.
