A lusty darkening in his gaze that made her shiver with anticipation, though an impatient knocking on the door made Conall groan.

Colin burst in wearing his little nightshirt, Bonni hard upon his heels, the woman thankfully mended after what she had suffered—another blessing!

“Forgive me, Laird…Lady Campbell!”she cried, the boy’s gleeful laughter echoing around the room as he clambered with amazing agility upon the bed.

“Mayhap three nursemaids, husband?”Lisette said with fresh giggles herself, Colin jumping up and down and brandishing a wooden horse as if he held a sword.

“Papa, look, I’m a raider like the devil of the seas!”

“You’re soon tae be a sopping wet raider once I get you in your bath,” Bonni said with a firm tone that made Colin stop his bouncing and leap into the nursemaid’s outstretched arms.

Yet she laughed, too, and hustled with him out of the room and shut the door behind them, while Conall groaned again and collapsed upon the bed to throw a pillow over his face.

“God help us, is this what we have in store?Our own raider in the family?”came his muffled voice, which made Lisette push away the pillow and snuggle into his arms.

“Kiss me, husband.”

Conall did, chuckling against her lips while Lisette felt her heart full to bursting.

With gratitude for Gavin MacLachlan, wherever his ship had taken him…and with love brimming over for her handsome Highland warrior as she kissed Conall back.
