“Don’t give me your shit, the dickhead pushed her down the slide.”
I run my hand down my face, too tired for this. “You can’t call a little kid a dickhead either. Am I going to be getting a call from the parent?”
“Well, if you do, you can tell the husband how the wife wanted to apologize for her son’s behavior on her knees.” He raises a brow and sits down in front of me.
I change the subject because Sebastian’s going to do what Sebastian wants to do when it comes to protecting Claud. “How was Dubai?”
“Complete shit.”
My cell rings. “It’s Leo.” I put it on speaker.
“Hey, fucker.” He pants into the phone.
“What the hell are you doing?” I ask.
“Jiu-jitsu,” he grits, and then I hear a bang and a loud oomph from across the line.
I look up at Seb, and he’s shaking his head, already annoyed. “That’s your brother,” I say.
“Debatable,” he replies dryly.
“Is that Uncle Sebby?” Leo chuckles.
I throw my head back and laugh loudly. We have no clue why Claud started calling him that, and he would never deny her anything, so he goes along with it, but when Leo busts his balls about it, it’s the best.
“Can you hang up on that jerk-off?”
“What do you need, Leo?” I ask, hearing a lot of moving around and men groaning, “And did you need to call in the middle of your new hobby?”
“Don’t you have a business to run?” Sebastian asks dryly.
“Don’t you?” Leo counters.
Seb closes his eyes, annoyed.
“Time out, guys,” Leo calls out to whomever he’s with. “I was calling to let you know of the change of plans for Mom’s birthday. She wants to cook brunch this weekend instead of going out.”
That doesn’t surprise me. We all would prefer to take her out and treat her, however knowing her, she would rather the whole family be at the house to move and talk freely.
“I’m not shocked. We’ll see you there.” I hang up, and Seb is looking at me deadpan. “What?”
He widens his eyes and shakes his head. “Just trying to figure out how me and him are related.”
Yeah, they couldn’t be more different, but also, their relationship couldn’t be stronger.
“I have a meeting with Matteo in five minutes, and then I need to drop off Claud at her baking class. Anything else?”
“Kicking me out so soon? Nice.” He leans back and crosses his legs. “Next month, I need to fly back to Dubai to sort out permits because we’ve been having problems building the new hotel. The next full week I have with Claudina is the same week they want me to fly out. I’m going to switch with Nate this week and bring her out east so she can swim.”
“Nate was okay with it? He’s been pumped to get her out on the boat. Went on and on about some pink life vest.”
Seb smirks. It’s rare, but if it has to do with Claud, the grump is a softy. “I saw it. It’s so sparkly they’ll see her in space. She’ll love it. He’s fine with the change. They have some boating competition near Sag Harbor in August, so it works out for him.”
I make a note of it in the calendar so I don’t get confused, not that it matters. As long as she is with one of the four of us or her grandparents, I know she’s safe.
Nevertheless, I like to stay on top of it, especially for Willa, since she sometimes travels to help.
“And Leo is still taking her the week after you?” I grumble, annoyed, while Seb confirms.
