“Becks,” I snap, pissed off at her. “What the hell is going on?”
I can hear a tremble in her voice. “Some idiot kicked out his leg and tripped Juliette. But Harrison?—”
“What? What is it?”
She lowers her voice. “I’m scared. She’s crying a lot and holding her bad leg.”Fuck!“Should I take her to the hospital? I’m so worried.”
I roll my neck a few times to calm myself. Making Becks more stressed out is not going to help the situation, even though I want to strangle her at the moment.
“Help her up, and call her ortho doctor first. Then put her on the phone.”
“Okay. Okay,” she says nervously.
She puts down the phone, and I hear Juliette’s shrieks as Becks helps her.
“Just hold on, Harrison. Give her a second,” Becks says.
I look down at my hand, and it’s shaking from nerves. I’ve never felt so uneasy and helpless in my life.
You know what?
I put the phone on speaker, then go to my texts and ask our company pilot if he can bring me back to the city. He’s in the Hamptons with his helicopter, and I could be back there in no time.
I hear a rustling on the phone, and my girl’s voice comes through. “Harrison? I’m sorry,” she sobs. “It wasn’t my fault, I promise.”
“I know, baby. What hurts?”
“I don’t know, my whole leg.” She starts to hyperventilate, and I think I’m going to have a full-on panic attack if I can’t get to her soon.
“Jules, I’ll be there shortly. I’m going to take a helicopter. Can you please have Becks call your doctor?”
“She’s on the phone with Mom now to get the info,” she whispers. “I’m sorry.” She cries again.
“It’s okay, beautiful. You’re going to be okay.” I say to soothe her, not knowing if that’s the truth at all.
“Daddy!” Claud’s voice suddenly booms through my open window from the backyard. “Daddy! Help me!” She screams louder than I could ever imagine possible from her, and then one second later, I hear Nate’s voice screaming at Skye.
“Daddy!”
I sprint down the stairs, realizing once I get to the back doors, I ran so fast to Claudina on instinct that I dropped my phone upstairs, but Jules is in good hands with Beck.
I hope.
I slide the glass doors open. “What’s going on?” I scream in distress, feeling completely out of my mind.
Claudina stands there, shaking down to the core in Leo’s arms. Once she sees me, she screams my name and runs for me.
I pick her up and cradle her against my chest, and I can feel her pulse thumping hard against mine.
“Is Skye okay, Daddy? Please tell me she’s okay.” She blubbers through her tears.
I look around, and I turn Claud’s head so she doesn’t see Skye in Nate’s arms, full of blood.
“What happened?”I mouth to Leo, but he doesn’t answer, paying full attention to his dog, full of worry.
When Nate approaches, Leo gets up and grabs his car keys.
“Claud, sweetheart, Skye is okay, but we’ll bring her to the doctor just incase. But she’s okay,” Nate reassures her as he passes.
