“What does that mean?” I threw out.

“Nothing,” my sister hissed.

Anna groaned and I shook my head.

“She’s an interloper, Emmeline. There are issues with her presence that you and I need to talk about,” I added. “Alone.”

“Issues? You’re an asshole. I wish I’d known that last night,” Anna threw out. “I think he was stalking me.”

With her eyes wide open, Emme shook her head while glancing away, mumbling under her breath. “I’m glad you’re here, Anna, and my brother doesn’t stalk. He bulldozes. Ignore him. Sadly, he’s not an intruder, which right now I would have preferred. Why don’t you join us downstairs when you’ve finished dressing. I don’t know about you, but I could use a drink. Maybe two. You,” she hissed in my direction. “Come with me.”

With that, my sister spun on her heel and walked out, tromping down the stairs with purpose and aggravation in every step.

Exhaling, I pressed my hand on my head, surprised the girl hadn’t knocked me out cold.

The awkward silence between us was surprising given the garbage we’d both spewed only minutes before.

“I’m sorry I hit you, but you’re way off base. I’m not trying to hurt, defame, destroy, or incriminate you,” she said quietly. While her voice was soft, there was no misunderstanding her tone. She wasn’t but so apologetic about attempting to kill me. “I’m just hoping for a new life.”

Incriminate. What an interesting choice of a word for her to use. And a new life. That screamed of hiding her old one. And of running.

I’d had several men in my life attempt to knock me out cold and they’d learned the hard way an attempt to incapacitate me wasn’t in their best interest.

“Uh-huh. That remains to be seen.” The awkwardness was a situation I wasn’t used to. I almost felt guilty for my reactions. Almost. “However, I didn’t mean to terrify you.”

“You did.”

Exhaling, I pulled my hand free. Spots of blood appeared on my fingertips. Great. One truth remained easy to see. She’d seen too much. Now what in the hell was I going to do about it?

“Jaxon!” Emmeline yelled from the bottom of the stairs. “Now.”

Anna was amused, her eyes flashing. I was still aroused, almost embarrassed at my body’s reaction to her. After all, she was aproblem I couldn’t just will away. Her being my sister’s friend, added multiple complications. I had a feeling that any time I was in her presence, danger would follow.

I allowed my gaze to linger on Anna’s voluptuous body a little too long. Long enough I could sense the woman was about to tell me off.

Which at this point, she had every right for doing so. I’d spanked her. I had no idea what had gotten into me.

Christ, my head ached like a son of a bitch.

“Are you going to tell me who you are?” I tried again only to receive the same anger-filled glare since she’d smacked me upside the head.

“Are you going to fetch a new personality, Mr. Jaxon Prince?”

Oh, the girl was tough.

“You know Emmeline?”

She narrowed her eyes, tugging the towel, daring me to undress her with my eyes. The girl had no idea that it was no longer necessary. The image of her naked body had been firmly imbedded into my mind.

From her breasts that would fit perfectly in my hands to the blushing shade of pink of her areoles. The woman had the most perfect rounded hips and legs meant to wrap around me when I fucked her.

The single taste of having them straddling me had been incredible.

“Of course I know Emmeline or I wouldn’t be here. Didn’t you listen to her? What do you think? That I’m forcing your sister tosay we know each other? Are you really her brother or just some vagrant she’s been kind enough to provide assistance?”

“Yeah, I’m her brother. One of four. And lady, I don’t trust you. As I said. In my world, there are no such things as coincidences. You will answer my questions.”

“The feeling is mutual.”
