“When are we going?” I asked.
“We’ll wait to hear from Viper or Savage, then we’ll figure out what to do and how to get the information we need.”
“Go be with Orla,” Ace said. “We can handle this.”
“Like hell,” I stood up. “I’m your goddamn Sergeant at Arms. I will be where the action is.”
Ace nodded, knowing there would be no arguing with me. “Fuck, sometimes, you look just like your old man when you get fired up.”
“I wasn’t gonna say it,” Hawk said, smirking over at me.
If I wasn’t so annoyed by the fact I couldn’t kill that motherfucker, I would feel happy that I was like my dad. He’d been a good guy, and a standup member of the club but right now, my head was all over the place.
“Call a party,” Hawk said. “We’ll party and show the cops we aren’t looking for him. It will mask the women coming back, and throw suspicion off us.”
I nodded. “That’s not a bad plan, brother.”
“I’ll tell Shona,” Ace said, moving down the hall to speak with her. She was the best at putting on an impromptu party for the club and at such short notice, she’d get it done quick smart. She was coming out of the office with Ace when I spied the bruise on her jaw. Once the light hit her, Ace and Hawk noticed too, and we all cornered her.
“Who the fuck did that?” Hawk asked. Shona was one of us, someone we protected like our own sister, especially after what her husband Dog did not only to this club, but to her on those occasions he was off his face.
“Relax,” she put her hands up. “It’s just a little bruise. I fell out of bed a few nights ago.”
I knew she was lying, but I wasn’t going to push. Hawk would, and Ace would wait until she told him. But I had a better way to find out.
Pulling back, I grabbed my phone from my pocket and sent Orla a message.
BEAR
I need your help. Shona has a bruise on her jaw and she won’t tell us what happened.
The message would sit unanswered for a few hours, given how much she needed rest after our romp, but if anyone was going to get the truth out, it was Orla.
Putting my phone back in my pocket, I moved around the bar to grab a beer.
Ace and Hawk let Shona out from the corner of the room so she could put her plan into action, but their eyes were on her as she fussed about with a tablet by the couch.
“If Savage sees that, he’s going to lose it,” Hawk said quietly to us.
“She and Savage a thing?”
Ace chuckled. “Are you blind, brother? They’ve had an intensity about them for months. I don’t think they’d done anything yet, but I know Savage would do anything for her. I’ve seen the look before.”
“Don’t tell me you’ve gone soft, Coop. Sheridan whipped your ass already?”
“And you’re not?” Hawk laughed.
The three of us, long since abstaining from permanent relationships, and yet here we were back home and already locked down.
And yet, Orla had always been on my mind.
Every single pussy I’d been in, every single mouth around my cock, it had always been me picturing her.
I’d been whipped the day she landed those lips on me back in school and I knew it too. Everyone did, especially my mother.
I pulled my phone back out and checked when she had last spoken to me. It wasn’t like her to go this long without speaking to me.
As I clicked through to ring her, my phone lit up with a message from Orla.
