“What is it?”
“She wasn’t there,” Shae replied. “Rory told me she hadn’t turned up.”
“What?” I barked out. “She left to get there at 9. It’s almost fucking 11 now.”
Sheridan looked over at me. “She has to be somewhere. She’s not answering her phone.”
I picked up my phone and dialled her number, but it cut out after a few calls. Was she pissed off?
“Is it cutting off for you too?”
She nodded. “Yeah, she wouldn’t do that. We aren’t fighting and even if she’s mad at me, she would never do that.”
“I’m going to look for her,” I said to Ace. He nodded. “Take Rebel with you.”
I nodded over to Rebel, who was already on his feet and ready to go.
We headed down to the bikes and I instantly felt white hot rage travel through me as I got on the bike and tore out of the compound, passing club members as we sped down the road. Rebel was hot on my heels, matching my speed, knowing how important this was.
I could scarcely breathe.
I got off the bike at the mall, parking illegally, as I ran inside. Rory was sitting at the register, worry written all over his face.
“She’s not been here, and she’s not answering,” he said, holding his phone up. “I just assumed she was doing something at home or sleeping in. She does that, you know, she sleeps in and misses alarms.”
Fuck.
“Where is somewhere else she would go?” I asked him.
“Her apartment.”
“Shae already checked there,” Rebel said. “No-one has been there.”
Horror filled me as I realised she could be anywhere in Kilkenny, and with the threat on our club, she was in real fucking danger.
I didn’t say anything as I ran outside with Rebel on my heels, heading back to our bikes. “We ride around until we find something.”
Rebel nodded, putting his helmet on. My phone rang as I was about to start the bike. I pulled it out to see Brogan pop up.
“What?” I barked into the receiver.
“I don’t know what’s going on, but I can’t get hold of Cooper or Casey,” he said.
“We’re in lockdown.”
“Why?” he asked, cautiously.
“Rival MC after us. What do you want?”
“I’m calling because I didn't want to startle Sheridan, but you need to get her and the girls safe.”
“Why?”
“We had one of our prisoner vans vandalised, while it was transporting a prisoner.”
“So?”
“Alex, the prisoner was Neal Foley. He’s out.”
