“Oliver,” I say, stepping closer. I swallow my nerves, trying to steal my heart as the question I desperately need answered comes bubbling up my throat. “Why did you leave?”
He sighs but nods his head as I step closer. Leaning his head on my thighs, I let my shaky hands play with his curls. Gazing up at me, I meet his eyes as I await his answer.
“I have nothing, Renna. Nothing but this house, and even then, its not on my land, it’s yours. Your family. I have nothing to show for, nothing to give to you. I can’t take both of us on my foreman salary. We both know this.” He sighs as kisses my thigh and leans his forehead on me.
“You deserve the world, Renna, and I couldn’t give you the world. So I left. Because you deserve more, Princess.”
“What if the ranch were yours?” I mumble, unsure how he would take the question. It’s something I’ve been thinking about, dreaming about, and now it could… be reality.
“What?”
“Everyone knows the ranch is mine once Dad retires. He’s a traditions man. It wouldn’t go anywhere but to me, butwhat ifI gave it to you?”
“No.”
“Oliver–”
“No, Renna.” He says, and I swat his head.
“Listen, what if we had it together then? We run this ranch together. Winehouse-Torres Ranch, I think it has a nice ring to it.” He swats my ass and I giggle, though I’m completely serious.
“Even if you didn’t want to marry me, which why wouldn’t you? I’m a catch. But I couldn’t run this ranch, and there is no way I’m selling it.”
“The ranch is yours, as you are mine,Renna Winehouse,” he says, his smile lifting the stone in my chest.
Hell yes.
“In a year, I’ll ask you, like a gentleman, to marry me.”
“And we’ll run this ranch together and have our happily ever after.”
“I don’t need the ranch to marry you, Princess. I may not have generational wealth, I may not have a ranch, but I have you. You are worth more than all of those things combined.” His eyes sear into mine, the fire behind me lighting his brown eyes up as I hear the conviction in his voice.
He’s not letting me go.
“As of today, Princess, you are mine. You are my happily ever after,” he murmurs as his grip around my thighs tightens. “I know a perfect way to start our happily ever after now.”
His breath hits my thighs as he yanks me over him. Literally, over him. I can barely see him as his breath hits me at my core, and I shudder at the contact.
At the rush of being over him.
“Renna, all I want out of life is to own you.”
“You’d let it all go. Move to the city with me?” I ask. As much as I want his lips on me, I have to know. He may love me, want to marry me, own me, but will he sacrifice for me? Will he give up everything for me?
Devotion turns me on just as much as the naked man.
He pushes me away slightly, and I think I have my answer, but his grip doesn’t loosen from the back of my thighs.
“Yes,” he answers, looking up at me. His brown eyes allure as they peer into mine.
“You’d say goodbye to Winehouse Ranch? To my Dad?”
“Can we not talk about your dad with your pussy four inches from my face?” He smiles, and I can’t help but smile a bit too.
“Answer the damn question, wrangler.” The nickname makes him scowl a bit, and he bites the inside of thigh for it, but I laugh anyway.
“Yes, now let me have you.” He dives in, and I instantly moan at the contact of his lips against mine. He starts with a light kiss before licking a straight line up.
