view, but it also made his job harder. It was easy to blend in with the trees and bushes. He had a straight view into her apartment when he reenacted what a potential stalker would do to watch her
from her windows. He waited at the doorstep, arriving earlier than his regular eight am time to get
ready for the day. He wasn’t a sight to see first thing in the morning. He hadn’t brushed his teeth or
washed his face. Would he finally get to see a freshly woken Flora?
“Come in.” She swung open the door.
Of course not. She was dressed, and her face was glossy. Like she’d put … oil all over her face?
He wasn’t sure. She looked as good as she always did. It was almost distracting. He’d come in at eight am, get ready in her bathroom, then move back out to his car and stay on watch.
“I need to get ready.” He said, walking past her. The line between tile and carpet stopped him
in his tracks. Kicking his shoes off, he rushed for the bathroom.
“I can tell,” Flora said.
“I need five minutes.”
“Take ten. I’ll meet you at the office.” Flora grabbed her keys and made her way toward the
door. He turned to grab her arm. What the hell? It was their first day together leaving her apartment and she was already trying to escape him.
“Absolutely not. I’ll drive you.”
“No need. I’m perfectly capable of driving myself,” she said
“Flora, in order for this to work, you need to let me do my job,” he explained.
“Dylan, this is a little much.”
“Then why did you need a bodyguard?”
“A promise I made.”
“Let me assess the danger. If it’s not as serious as you say, I’ll back off.” With that, he went to
get ready, hoping she’d take him seriously and not leave his ass. This was going to be a long day. They
both had a lot to learn going forward. Hopefully, they’d catch on fast.
Her car was admittedly nicer than his, cleaner too since he’d been living in his. He hopped in the passenger seat of her car on their way to Dainty Rebel’s offices. He figured this was against some sort of bodyguarding rule, but he figured he’d have to pick and choose his battles guarding Flora.
“We’re supposed to be in a meeting right now, shit.” She grumbled. That’s all he gets before
she’s already opening the door of her office. He gripped her arm and sighed as they stood in the doorway.
“Flora, wait.” He sidestepped her and looked down the hallway. He may have been overbearing, but Flora wasn’t listening. How the hell was he supposed to do his job if she wouldn’t let him take the necessary precautions?
“I highly doubt I’m in danger in my own damn building.” She muttered, crossing her arms and
tapping her heel. He didn’t give her a response as he continued to walk her down the hall. “I don’t think you need to be around when I’m at work.”
“I’m only doing my job.”
“I didn’t know being up my ass was part of your job description.”
