I hum thoughtfully, trailing a single finger down the center of his heaving chest. “You can do better than that, High Prince ofSummer. I want you to tell me how desperately you need to spill inside me, how desperately you crave it.”

Dayton stares at me, his teal eyes shimmering, a feral brightness. Then he grabs the back of my neck, his touch warm.

“Please, Farron,” he says, his voice cracking with desperation, the vulnerability in his words unraveling a knot within my chest. “I need you. I’ll never not need you.”

I open my mouth to respond, but he cuts me off, eyes wide and shining.

“You are the calm that tames my storm. You’ve woven yourself into every part of me, into my laughter, my pain, my hope. And I am more because of it. I love you, Farron.” His voice lowers, shaking. “You and your quiet beauty of change, how you let things fall only to breathe life into something new.” He grins wildly and presses his forehead to mine. “So, baby, let me come inside you. Let me love you with everything I am for as long as the stars burn in the sky.”

I still, the only movement a tear trickling down my cheek. “Day?—”

He pulls me down to him and kisses me. “Is that a yes?”

My breath comes out raspy. Something burns inside me, hotter than the Green Flame. “Y-yes.”

Dayton rolls us gently so I’m beneath him. He captures my lips in a tender kiss, his fingers threading through my hair. I melt into his embrace.

His tongue caresses mine. I cling to his broad shoulders. Dayton begins to move again, rocking into me with slow, deep thrusts. I wrap my legs around his waist, tilting my hips to take him even deeper.

“Farron,” he murmurs, his voice rough with emotion. “Farron, Farron, Farron.”

I cup his face. “Day. Don’t stop.”

His breath hitches, and he surges forward, capturing my lips. He pours all his love, his devotion into that kiss, and I feel it resonate deep in my bones.

Dayton’s thrusts gain momentum, driving into me with focused intensity. “Touch me,” I plead breathlessly.

He reaches between us, wrapping his calloused hand around my shaft. I cry out at the contact, hips bucking. He pumps me in time with his thrusts, the sensation catapulting me toward the edge.

“That’s it. Let go for me,” Dayton urges, his hot breath ghosting over my ear.

His words are my undoing. I shatter with a silent scream, my release pulsing over his fist in pearly ropes. Wave after wave of ecstasy crashes over me as I clench rhythmically around Dayton’s pistoning length.

“Fare,” he groans, his hips stuttering as my climax triggers his own.

I feel him swell inside me, stretching me wider, before he spills deep. His seed paints my inner walls, pulses endlessly, filling me to the brim.

Dayton collapses on top of me, his face buried in the crook of my neck as we both struggle to catch our breath. I run my fingers through his damp, golden locks. We lie there, our hearts gradually slowing.

“You’ve always been the sun to me,” I say softly, then, “I’m sorry.”

He places a gentle kiss on my temple. “I’m not.”

“I…I know we’re both different now.”

He sweeps my hair back from my brow. “We’ll figure it out together.”

“Together,” I echo.

Aheavy pit settles in my stomach as I descend the stairs intoKeep Wolfhelm’s dungeon. Water drips from the ceiling and onto my armor. I clutch the blankets tighter, trying to shield them from any leaks. Torchlight flickers on the walls, though it does nothing to chase away the cold.

At the bottom of the stairs, there are rows of cells on each side. They’re empty except for one at the end. A dark shape slumps against the bars.

I take a deep breath, then walk toward the cell.
