He rewound slowly. He didn’t have to go far. Just until...right...there!

Gregory walked closer to the T.V. He studied the frozen image with the patience and detail-oriented mind of a surgeon. And there, almost hidden in the background, was the key to finding what he needed.

It was hard to see, and he’d almost missed it completely. But fate had stepped in and shown him the way.

“You’re with him,” Gregory whispered to the shadowy image of Riley with her detective partner. “Of course you are.”

The man had an arm around her waist. An awfully close embrace for a man who was only supposed to be nothing more than a co-worker.

Although finding his latest gifthadprobably left Riley shaken and in need of comfort and support. From what he’d witnessed while hiding in the shadows, the brave and protective Eric West was more than happy to provide both.

And then some.

“West is the key,” he whispered with a grin. “Find him, find Riley.”

Feeling more like himself, Gregory picked up the mess he’d made before sitting down at his computer.

He knew how Riley’s brilliant mind worked. She wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. He was a fool to have let himself suspect that she would.

His opponent wouldn’t leave him. Not again. No, she’d need to stay somewhat close. Close enough to come after him, if he ever gave her the opportunity.

Riley was a focused, dedicated detective, and now that he’d made this personal for her, she’d need to finish what they’d started back in New York.

She needs me as much as I need her.

Her partner, however...he was an issue that would have to be dealt with. And soon.

Gregory had known men like him before. Big, strong, hero-types always wanting to swoop in and save the girl.

But Riley wasn’t Detective West’s. She washis.

His to take. To play with. And—eventually—to kill.

Because the game was soon coming to an end, and Riley would be his final prize.
