Good didn’t even come close to describing how it felt waking up to her gorgeous face every day. He just needed to figure out a way to make the rest of his days begin the same way.

Neither had broached the subject of the future yet. Gabe suspected Ellena wanted to but was afraid he’d change his mind.

Not in this lifetime, baby.

Gabe hadn’t started that conversation yet, because he thought it best to get their current situation figured out first. Then they could focus solely on their future.

Together.

So far, there’d been no further signs of trouble, which was both good and bad. No trouble meant Ellena was still safe, but the sudden inaction made Gabe very nervous.

It had been too long since the last attempt on her life. In his experience, that meant something was brewing. Something bad.

Unfortunately for them, Nate’s assessment of the hospital security tapes from the night of the break-in resulted in a dead end. The fucker who’d broken into Ellena’s office hadn’t shown enough of his features to get a hit.

Nothing had really stood out from her files, either. She’d gone through them more than once, both on the computer and the ones they’d found on the floor, and still …nothing.

Even more disheartening was the gap still in Ellena’s memory. Gabe had hoped the events from the day of the accident would have returned by now, but that was still a blank slate, as well.

Though he had no way of knowing what, his gut still said something important was locked away inside that beautiful brain of hers. Speaking of beautiful…

A set of sleepy blue eyes opened to meet his, her dimples growing deeper with her lazy smile. “Good morning.”

His heart swelled inside his chest, the way it always did when she looked at him that way. “Morning, sweetheart.”

“What time is it?”

“A little after nine.”

Closing her eyes, Ellena stretched her arms above her head but remained on her stomach. “I feel so lazy sleeping in like this.”

“Nothing else to do, so I say we take every advantage while we can.”

She opened her eyes again, the smile crossing her face one filled with mischief. “Oh, I don’t know about that. I’m sure we could think of something else to do besides sleep.”

Gabe’s cock twitched beneath the sheets. They’d made love so many times in the past week he felt like they were on a second honeymoon.

In a way, they sort of were. It may not be the ideal situation, but he couldn’t think of a better way to reconnect with his wife than to be tucked deep inside the woods, away from everyone and everything.

Scooting himself closer, Gabe planted a kiss on her back, just below her shoulder blade. “You have anything particular in mind?”

“I thought I’d leave that part up to you.”

“Well in that case…”

He kissed her back again, a little lower this time. Shifting so he was hovering over her, Gabe pulled the sheet down, exposing the small of her back. Bending down, he placed another light kiss there, just above the top of her crease.

Ellena drew in a short breath, her lower half inadvertently lifting toward him. Pulling the sheet down even further, Gabe’s dick began to throb to the beat of his heart when he took in the sight of her perfect, heart-shaped ass.

Running a palm over one of the perky globes, he pushed to his knees and moved between her thighs. Using both hands, he began massaging her rear end, his fingers pushing and digging into the toned muscles there.

A low moan escaped from Ellena’s throat, telling him she liked what he was doing.

You ain’t seen nothing yet, sweetheart.

Sliding one hand over, Gabe traced the length of her crease with his middle finger, letting it slip between her cheeks as he went. She gasped when his fingertip hit her puckered entrance there.

They’d never ventured into that territory before, and he didn’t really think now was the time, either. But someday…
