Her shoulders sagged a little, drawing Gabe’s attention to the bruises on her upper left arm. Bruises caused by the accident she’d nearly died in.

Shit. She hadn’t acted like he’d hurt her, and he didn’t think he’d held on too tightly, but still.

Way to go, asshole.

“You’re right.” Ellena agreed. “I didn’t want you staying here. But that was before.”

“Before what?”

“Before I came in here to check my email.” She glanced back at open laptop on her desk, and when her eyes met his again, they were filled with an unmistakable fear.

One that sent his heart racing.

“What is it? What’s wrong?”

“There are…p-pictures.”

The quiver in her voice kicked his ass into high gear. Stepping past her, Gabe spoke as he made his way across the room.

“Pictures of what?”

“Me, mostly.” Holding the towel in place, she followed him slowly. “But there are some of me with Jenna, and with you. There’s also a message.”

Sonofabitch.

Reaching the desk in three large strides, Gabe grabbed the top of the computer and spun it around so he could see. His stomach dropped when he began clicking through the images still opened on the screen.

There were several pictures of Ellena appearing to have been taken over the span of at least a few weeks. Some showed her walking to and from her car in the hospital parking lot. A few were of her riding her bike on the Old Mill trail.

A couple were of Ellena having lunch with Jenna, and though those pictures showed both women talking and laughing, the person behind the camera was clearly focused on one woman in particular.

Ellena.

The most recent images the bastard sent were of both Gabe and Ellena, and they’d been taken earlier today. Those showed the two of them leaving the hospital together and getting into his rental car.

The final image was of a bruised and bloody Elle slumped in the front seat of her mangled car.

“What the fuck?”

“You were right.” Ellena’s soft voice shook from beside him. “It wasn’t an accident.”

Filled with a murderous rage, Gabe quickly found the warning she’d mentioned. He read the message aloud. “They can find you anywhere.”

“I-I don’t understand.”

Gabe looked back up at her, wanting to kill whoever had put that damn fear in her eyes. Fury burning brightly, he pulled his phone from his pocket and thumbed Nate’s number.

“Are you calling the police?”

He waited for Nate to pick up. “Nope.”

“Then who?”

Gabe put the phone to his ear, his deep voice turning deadly as he locked his eyes with hers. “I’m calling my team.”

Chapter 5

Someone had been watching her.
