He looked out just in time to see Hall hit her on the back of the head with the butt of his gun, knocking her out cold.
“Where the fuck is Walker?”
With a quick scan, Gabe realized some guy he’d never seen was forcing Walker onto the airplane by gunpoint.
Ah, God.
Not far behind, Hall was dragging Ellena’s limp body up the airplane’s steps. The shots from the helicopter increased, forcing Gabe and the others to take cover once more.
At the first sign of the slightest break, he tried for another shot, but he was too late. The door to the plane closed, and the helicopter took off as the plane began to move down the runway.
“Ellena!”
Almost immediately, the gunfire ceased, and the chopper disappeared. Gabe pushed out of Matt’s loosening hold and ran out onto the tarmac. To do what, exactly, he wasn’t sure.
He couldn’t risk shooting the plane. Not with Ellena on board. So he just stood there…helpless.
Watching as the plane took flight, going God knows where, with his entire life on board.
Chapter 19
Gabe’s knees nearly gave out, his entire body feeling the impact of what he’d just lost. He looked down at Price’s body, which was lying less than three feet away from where he now stood.
He pulled the trigger until his gun was empty.
Numb, he turned and walked woodenly back to the hangar.
“Oh, my god!” Jenna was crying. “They took her. They took Ellena!”
“Come on, Jenna.” Zade tried to gently pull her away. “Let’s get you out of here.”
“No!” The stubborn woman yanked her arm free. “I’m sick to death of men who think they can order me around.” Anger replaced anguish as she marched up to Gabe. “We have to get her back. You have to get her back!”
Gabe understood the emotions Ellena’s friend was feeling. He was feeling them, too.
“I will,” he promised her with everything he had. “If it’s the last thing I do.”
Ryker had rejoined them, too. He’d been watching from a car parked out of sight on the north side of the building. From the looks of things, the somewhat disheveled man had gotten in his fair share of the fighting.
“What the hell just happened?” Kole asked no one in particular.
“We’ll get her back,” Ryker spoke with confidence.
Opening his mouth, Gabe started to respond but clamped his jaw shut. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to cry, yell, howl out at the universe or the men standing in front of him, now.
His emotions were all over the fucking place, and…Jesus. Is this what his men had felt when their women had been taken from them?
He ripped his earpiece out of his ear and looked back at the other men. Apparently, they were waiting for him to take the lead.
Glancing down, the blood on Hollywood’s pants reminding him, “You need to tie that up to stop the bleeding.”
“Yeah, I know.” The good-looking Delta operator pointed at himself with a smirk. “Medic, remember?”
“Right. Sorry.”
“S’okay.”
While Hollywood removed his belt to use as a makeshift tourniquet, Gabe zeroed in on Ryker. “How the hell did this happen?”
