“There you go, using that dirty word again.”

“Shit?”

“No.” Matt chuckled. “Let.”

Despite the situation, Gabe let out a little chuckle. “Guess I’ll have to watch that, huh?”

“If you plan on keeping her around for very long, you will.”

I’m keeping her with me forever.

“I do have one other question, though.”

Gabe slid Matt a glance. “What’s that?”

The other man eyed him up and down slowly. “What the fuck are you wearing?”

“What?” Gabe glanced down at himself, realizing only then that he still had that damn apron on. “Shit.”

Ignoring his teammate, who’d just busted up laughing, Gabe reached around to his back, yanking the tie loose before pulling it up and over his head.

“I’m surprised Walker didn’t jump at the chance to razz me about it.”

“He was probably too busy making sure your wife didn’t shoot his ass again. Come on, man.” Matt punched him in the bicep. “We’d better get back in there before they decide to plan World War Three.”

Wadding the thick material into a ball, Gabe fell in line with Matt, and the two men began walking back to the cabin. When they walked inside, he was surprised to see Walker standing next to the kitchen sink, Ellena carefully cleaning the area around the bullet hole she’d inflicted.

Hearing them come in, Walker sent him a wink. “Your girl’s got the magic touch.”

He’s on our side…he’s on our side…

“You really don’t want to push me right now, Adrian.”

“But it’s so much fun. Ah!” Walker groaned, wincing from the extra pressure Ellena had suddenly used.

“Oops.” She looked up at him with a sugary sweet smile. “Sorry.”

“No, you’re not.” Despite his words, Walker chuckled. “Damn, Gabriel. Your wife’s almost as ruthless as you are.”

“Worse.” Ellena smiled again. “If you catch me on a bad day.”

“No wonder you and Jenna are friends. You’re just alike.”

“Nah.” Ellena shook her head. “She’s even more ruthless than me. Which is why I’m looking forward to watching her take a go at you when she realizes what’s really going on.”

“I’m looking forward to it.” A funny look crossed over Walker’s face, but then it was gone as quickly as it appeared.

Whatthefuckever.

“Turner.” Gabe turned to Matt. “There’s a med kit under the sink in the bathroom. Take care of that, would ya?”

“You got it, Boss.”

Once Matt went into medic-mode with Walker, Gabe grabbed hold of Ellena’s freshly washed hand and led her into the living room.

He needed her by his side. Needed to be touching her. Because what they were about to discuss would no-doubt send his raging fear racing through his veins again.

If she was here, right by his side, Gabe might be able to control himself and not decide to kill Walker, after all.
